There are no good HM slaves in this gen but you don't need any. Just grab a monkey, chipmunk, or kitten and teach it cut and you're done. You should use the aforementioned for Fly, and You should have surf on your team.

Goruugu and panpour both make very good HM slaves, gives you all 6, water ones + cut on the monkey, fly/strength on the ghost.

and if you evolve panpour, it actually pulls its weight fairly well with surf.
while fly is actually a good move on goruugu since they dont switch, and gives you ground/flying (he can also learn flash, which seems more useful then dive is as a HM anyway, and is a useful move for taking down hard mons by spaming potions, and using when they miss to drop them lower or attack).

before you get the ghost robot, just use what ever flyer you can find.
the dog also makes good use of strength before then too.

but he is right, strength just is for shotcuts and a few items. HM slaves arnt needed if you dont want them.

The only time a HM is required in the whole of B/W, at least, the first half, is to cut down the Tree at the Dream Lot. After that, you wont need HMs until post-game.

HM Slave ability should not be taken into account.

R/B/Y: Mew glitch, get 2 Mews, done
G/S/C: Red Gyarados uses Strength, Surf, Whirlpool and Waterfall. Rock Smash is not required, Flash is only for Dark Cave and Cut is irrelevant when you get it.
R/S/E: Pelipper, nuff said.
FR/LG: HMs are not really needed aside from Surf and Fly, which is essentially water-type + Pidgeot.
D/P/Pt: BIBAREL

There's usually one Pokemon dedicated to HM slavery. Then came a game where we had no dedicated HM slave, but its the only game where you don't need HMs at all. >_>

Actually, the best HM slave in RSE is Linoone, but whatever, 'cause it can learn Cut, Strength, Rock Smash, and Surf (though you should have Surf on your team). Shame it can't learn Dive though.

well... you can't really say that watchog is made for anything but HM slavery but whatever

you don't need HMs

(also Reshiram and Zekrom are the best HM slaves :))

then pull him out again in route 16 for that rare candy and teach something strength there as well (lillipup) to get tm 66 payback.

There are loads of items you can get in the game by using HMs. Unless you're willing to backtrack through the whole game later, I'd recommend that you have your good HMs spread out over your team so that you can pluck some goodies as you're playing(good HMs = Surf, Strength, Waterfall, Fly). Put Cut on Patrat or an elemental monkey, and you're good to go.

Hey folks, I need some help. I made a team of 5 members, and I need help picking the last member. Any help would be appreciated.

For my 2nd playthrough of Black, I planned this team:

Emboar
Conkeldurr
Liligant
Escavalier
Archeops
Ferrothorn

Do you know if/how I can improve it?

You'll be having fun against Ghetsis's Sazandora, too. The only thing there I can think of being able to take it on is Conkeldurr (though on the bright side, most of Ghetsis's team is weak to Fighting).

A water-type would be useful, try using Panpour.
for a water type i'd rather take the tadpole, but if you don't like the ground-type overlap try burungel instead.
Yeah, I was thinking about a water type as well. My problem is that NO water types satisfy me in this generation except for Oshawott, which is unobtainable since I'm choosing Snivy.

Guess I have no choice but to pick one anyway.

Why bother with a Water-type? You only have to be sure you have a way to kill Ghetsis's Hydreigon (and maybe that Afrobull whose name I forgot) and you're set.

I haven't played the game yet so I'm not really into the boss teams. What would you recommend that is not a water type?

+1 Haxorus kills Hydreigon fairly easily, providing his Cofagrigus didn't manage to stall you to death first. Mienshao and Galvantula have a pretty easy time too. Other than that... good luck. O_O

And as for Bouffalant, again, Mienshao murders it, but even at +2 or +3 Haxorus can't kill it. =/ A Ferrothorn resists its entire moveset if you can be bothered to train one, though.
