I'm trying to do the everstone trick with my modest Togetic while passing down Nasty Plot. So I have a male pikachu, Female Togetic + Everstone.

However, I hatched over 5 eggs, and none of them are modest. Am I doing the everstone trick incorrectly? Bad luck? Or does it only work when both pokemon are the same species?

Is there a Link or a thread that tells you what a pokemons characteristic means. I know that it means its the higest iv. But what does each individual saying mean? Ex. Likes to thrash about, Highly curious, etc.

How does paralysis affect speed exactly? Does it lower it by 1-2 levels, or does it halve it, or what? Someone just dced on me because my max-speed (Timid) Porygon-Z outsped their paralyzed Gyarados which had gotten in 2 Dragon Dances.

Just bad luck. Attaching the everstone to the female does not guarantee that all pokemon will be modest, it just increases the chances of the hatched egg being modest, or whatever the nature may be.

Well, with now 9 Togepis hatched and none with Modest... I'm beginning to cross the "statistical counter-evidence" line...

But I'll continue on. :-/

So the speed is dropped by 75%, and becomes 25% of the original (just want to make sure I have this correct)? Alright, thanks for the help!

Maybe it doesn't work when you are cross breeding with a non-ditto parent? I've hit over 12 togepis now, and none of them are Modest. Statistically by now, I got a good chance of seeing a modest Togepi even without the everstone trick :-/

IDK, I'm breeding with a ditto, and still no relaxed ones.

BTW, bronzong is supposed to be defensive, and my stupid pearl is giving me mostly -def and -sp. def natures, and +speed natures seem to be the most common.

Are you 100% sure both parents are from the US (or whatever region your D/P game is)? Otherwise, you're probably just having really bad luck. When I was breeding, I had some parents where almost every child had the correct nature, and some where only 1-2 of each batch of 4 had the correct nature.

EDIT: There's your problem. You need both parents to be from the same region.

^What? Right now I'm using a sinnoh ditto and a sinnoh bronzor, and it's not working.

Earlier I was using a hoenn heracross and a sinnoh yanma and it was working fine...

Low defense, slower pokes (Gengar, Timid Azelf, you'll need the free switch though) Also, things like Blissey and Cress (though you may consider a Lum berry). There's probably more but I can't think of them right now. If you're planning on using Focus Sash, clear the skies of sandstorm and get rid of their sandstreamer, beware of spikes and even consider using a wish passer if your plan goes awry.

Check the analysis for counters. If you do plan to use focus sash, consider using him as a starter.

Thanks. After thinking about it, I'm probably NOT going to run Focus Sash on mine, since I'm not using Weavile as a starter on my team, he's going to clean up later, after my other pokemon are starting to get weak. The Focus Sash would be more for Battle Tower than anything else.

Now my new question: How exactly does Nintendo check to see if you have hacked pokemon at their sponsored tournys?

Who's a good, defenseive wall? Tangrowth or Skarory? Skarmory is a good spiker, which I don't have on my team, but I have a stealth rocker, and Tangrowth can Knock off opponents items, status them, and has good physical attacks to hit too. Which would be a better candidate? I have most of Tangrowth's weaknesses covered too, but he's suppose to be a wall. XD.

Would this be an ok ingame team for Battle Tower?

Raichu Leftovers
Subsitute
Focus Punch
Thunderbolt
Encore

Blissy Life Orb
Protect
Softboiled
Ice Beam
Toxic

Gengar Big Root
Giga Drain
Drain Punch
Psychic
Shadow Ball

I'm pretty sure natures don't really matter ingame or in the battle tower right? Apart from Raichu their not ev trained. And I think i'm just finding out that big root doesnt work for drain punch :/

also, how do you calculate damage for substitute?

You have a pokemon that has pokerus in your party, and then you walk/run/bike around a lot until your other pokemon catch it. Be sure to put them back in your box before midnight to ensure that they don't lose it.

Aquasuicune: I don't know what the problem might be, but just remember that if one of the parents is a Ditto, (even if it's a Ditto and a Female, Ditto and genderless, etc) you must put the everstone on Ditto and it will pass down Ditto's trait. This is common knowledge, but it's the only problem I can think you might be having.
