Pusuit VS Crunch.
Why do so many people use Pursuit when it does 40x2 base power if only a pokemon switches out but Crunch ALWAYS does 80 base power and the chance to lower enemies defence?

Because Pursuit will actually hit the escaping Pokemon, allowing for a possible OHKO if it's weak to it. At the very least it'll leave weakened, which is better than not hitting it at all and possibly hitting something that resists Dark.

Edit: Damn your awesomeness, Captain Awesome.

Fudge yes!

yes, Pursuit has priority, meaning if a weavile is fighting something like Gardevoir and it switches to Umbreon, Weavile is stuck using a NVE attack on Umby and it's massive defense.

Which would be more effective/useful/better: A Modest Sceptile, or a Jolly Sceptile? (For this moveset: Leaf Storm, Energy Ball, Aura Sphere, Dragon Pulse)

Calm down. God. He probably meant Focus Blast. And use Timid if possible.

Yeah, Focus Blast is the fighting move, right? I haven't used Diamond since I beat the elite four back when I got it. Still breeding stuff in emerald.

I found this in the RMT forum:

Bronzong@Leftovers ** PaulRevere

Sceptile@Choice Specs ** Elmer
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 Sp.A, 252 Speed, 6 HP, Modest
~Leaf Storm
~Energy Ball
~Focus Blast
~Dragon Pulse

I needed this guy so badly. A bulky water counter, useful in many teams. Counters the likes of Milotic, Swampert, Slowbro, Suicune, and Manaphy easily, though an Ice Beam to the face might hurt. A few fun facts:

508.5 SpA
339 Speed

- Outspeeds Modest Starmies, and all the bulky waters I needed to counter save Gyarados.
- Outspeeds Timid/Jolly Salamence. Woo.
- Outspeeds Timid Manaphy and OHKOs it with Leaf Storm.

Leaf Storm Stats

102.03% - 120.3% on max SpDef Milotic
116.09% - 136.63% on max SpDef Manaphy

Dragon Pulse Stats

89.11% - 105.03% on standard Garchomp
101.2% - 119.28% on standard Salamence
85.8% - 101.23% on standard Dragonite

Timid, wow, oops. I just hatched a Jolly Treecko, one track mind, lol.

But you might get outrun by Weavile (which is only still in to threaten and OHKO with Focus Blast and force a switch or kill Weavile)

The extra damage that choice specs provides is necessary to make it a threat. By your logic, does that mean alakazam and gengar both need scarf's? You really need to calm down and learn some manners kid. All of the posts I've seen from you have been rediculing other users with your terrible logic and assumptions.

Also, to stay on topic, should swellow be carrying life orb or CB? (it's for a friend)

What level should I Rare Candy/Daycare my Pokemon to before checking IVs ?

Highly dependent on pokemon/stat.

I ussually just click "Calculate" every few levels in order to determine the IVs, and then put EVs in the stats that are a huge pain to rare candy to (30-31 Slakoth Atk; next helpful level = 100, etc).

Well, there are two fronts. With CB, Swellow can sweep with Brave Bird or Facade, whatever, but it can't U-Turn or Quick Attack (which can be vital.) Life Orb is useful, but I would be a little concerned because of Swellow's already mediocre defenses and it's weaknesses-this this isn't giong to stay for long with Life Orb.

Or, for a third option, you could go with Burn/Toxic Orb and Facade. Around 310 power after a Guts boost, a STAB boost, and Facade's natural effect. It works quite well, and you can easily U-Turn for ghosts. Or, you could throw Brave Bird in there and use that also.

I'll admit, some of my posts have been rather snarky. And excuse me for not memorizing every single number it takes for a Pokemon A to counter Pokemon B. I simply assumed a move with 480 Base Power running off such high special attack would OHKO something with Average Special Defense/HP.

As to your question, I'd run Burn Orb over both for Facade.

haha guess i got mixed up with the rock/ground typing of most rock pokemon...
another question.. should i keep my yanma unevolved with compound eyes or evolve it to yanmega. im using a u-turn hypnosis set.

Why would you ever not evolve Yanma? Anyways, for U-Turn Hypnosis, go with Naive and Speed Boost, so that U-Turn still does decent damage without nature reduction.
