So I know we've already posted about Vivillion's wing patterns, but check out this theory. It suggests that the player's (read: our) home region will influence what Vivillion's wings look like!

EDIT: Not sure if it's been posted but this shows Tundra and Modern patterns http://imgur.com/camI0EX
EDIT2: http://imgur.com/Bb7BYhp

Hoenn is looking more and more likely!!
I think that would be pretty cool! It would actually motivate me to trade, haha. Also, REJOICE!

So I was wondering what unique type combos Fairy has brought to us so far. The list is this:
Bug
Dark
Dragon
Electric - Dedenne
Fairy - Sylveon
Fighting
Fire
Flying - Togekiss (probably)
Ghost
Grass
Ground
Ice
Normal - Jigglypuff
Posion
Psychic - Gardevoir
Rock - Carbink
Steel - Klefki
Water - Marill
Am I missing any? Either way, not a bad mix so far.

That is a good question. Traditional EV training is a certain no, but super training's a maybe.
If that's possible, it would be exactly what I was hoping for. I understand Gamefreak not wanting to just uproot a core mechanic in IVs, and it's still nice to have all wild Pokemon seem "different" from each other. But at the end of the day, everyone wants to be able to maximize their Pokemon's potential and not be at a disadvantage in battle. If super training allows you to maximize the IVs as well as normal EVs, it would work perfectly.

Plus a huge bonus of this would be that you can maximize the Pokemon that you caught early in the game and befriended along the way. It'd be so nice not to have to breed hundreds of "clones" just to replace your original Poke-friend from your adventure!

They have the same HP...one is clean, one has been used. I mean if stats increased with EVs except HP then *shrug*. Probably coincidence though. Note that the used one has bigger values in all other areas
The used one has worse stats in everything but HP and Def. This also confirms the presence of IVs, at least initially.

Yeah with super training....as there is really no point in having less than 31 IVs anymore in any stat other than speed for gyro ball and trick room
That would be awesome. I'd like to mention though that an attack IV of 0 is very useful on special attackers for foul play and confusion

Except EVs are still obtained normally as well it seems, so you're still getting unwanted EVs from playing through the game. If I'm wrong about picture evidence from BST analyses, feel free to correct me. I want to be wrong on this

I completely forgot about this: http://www.gamestop.com/strategy-guides/pokemon-x-y-official-strategy-guide/110531

I remember buying one when Silver/Gold came out from the same publisher. Once someone gets ahold of this it should detail a LOT of stuff, including the BST of every pokemon and iirc possibly moveset too. I mean hey it's been over 10 years so who knows but yea we might get a lot of information in two days.

Also this would have been a much better source of information for someone to get early.....

Do we know if Super Training can be used to REMOVE EVs?

It wouldn't surprise me if it was the case.
It would surprise me. The meter for super training progress reminds me a lot of the one for contests in Gen III, where you couldn't remove progress in any stat

Well everyone including myself has been factoring in an assumed number of EVs into our BST estimates (20-60 EVs usually) and I'm pretty sure EVs are still gained normally. But even if you acquire unwanted EVs during your journey, you can always use the berries to drop them, or as Slheyas said Super Training may allow you to lower them as well (I haven't seen anything like that though so I'm doubtful). I'm excited for those possibilities!

Alright, a search of the thread provided no results, so... anyone know whether traded Pokémon can be renamed? Shouldn't be too hard to test- a guy in Santalune trades his Farfetch'd for a Bunnelby, so it's pretty much a matter of locating the Name Rater.

That would be the best thing ever but I doubt it

Only thing notable about that is that it seems this generation they're finally starting to notice how much they over-weighted fire towards physical for a type that has Flamethrower as its iconic move.

This made me laugh as someone who played Gen 1. We used to call the oddity of Fire-types being more physically powerful despite Fire being a Special Attack type "Fire-Type Syndrome."

In Gen I (and for a little while after), I think the idea was that most Pokemon would use normal moves for the majority of their moveset, and bust out their type only when it was SE, with very little coverage. If you're only firing off Flamethrowers when you're hitting for double damage, a lower special stat is less problematic. That would also explain the whole "Rock is super defensive!" notion which basically everyone found to be hogwash from day 1 since almost every rock-type was quad-weak to Surf and Crit Leaf.
