Instacheck Hotspot -- a fast Pokémon checker for XY

Aw that's sweet of you I'm just happy to help out my fellow pokenerds :)

The error you're getting from your computer is odd. Do you use an Intel program to connect and mange your wifi networks? Or is it the default Microsoft network and sharing center?(Please ask if that made no sense to you lol I'll get screenshots)

The 3DS not connecting to the access point is a really tricky issue. What I'd suggest is relaunch the hotspot with a completely new SSID and password, and try setting it up again on the 3DS. If that fails, check to see if your 3DS can even connect to your home network. The reason for checking this is that virtual networks will cause interference and if you already live in a place with horrible wireless interference you could be unable to connect due to that.

It makes sense to me, but I am not sure nonetheless. I attached a screenshot to my previous post. I normally just go to my "network and sharing center" that shows up when I click my connections. That being said, I do have an icon in my tray that is called "Intel Mywifi Technology". It looks like this. It also has a strange interface. When I right click the icon the following pops up:

Does that help at all?

Yes that answers the question. It looks like you are using this program instead of the default. Which could explain the problems.

Before you starting using instachecker, would you use this Intel program to connect to local wifi networks? Or did you use something else?

I never have, no. Opening to take that picture was the first I've ever opened it.

You have everything set up correctly. And if you're sure the data entered into the 3DS is correct I'm a bit at a loss.
I googled it and it looks as if this program does install it's own drivers. Which could cause conflicts. If you're comfortable with it, you might want to uninstall this completely, restart the computer and try again - Just first make sure it isn't your -only- wireless driver lol

On my computer (Win7) I can't host the hotspot properly with my LAN enabled. I have to host it through my wireless connection. So it's really interesting to hear you're having the exact opposite experience lol

Okay! Thanks to Sheeplet's help I figured some stuff out.
I enabled the Intel MyWifi stuff and now I can connect to the access point! However, I cannot connect to the internet. Any help there?

Make sure all of your IP information is set correctly on the 3ds. I couldn't connect to the internet until I changed my DNS settings, I just used Googles public server at 8.8.8.8

Oh that's good thinking, I'd have just assumed those were correct. Going to add that to the list of troubleshooting steps.

Oh good, I wouldn't have even known where to find it through a 3rd party program lol What setting was specifically enabled?

The entirety of it. The entirety of "Intel MyWifi Technology" had been disabled up until now. I think the fact that it was enabled was the reason I kept getting the "The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation" earlier.
Essentially what Intel MyWifi is is its own virtual network - it turns my comp into a hotspot. Here's the problem though. If Intel MyWifi is on, I am unable to start Instacheck, because "The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation". When I disable Intel MyWifi, I can start the Hotspot but cannot connect to it.
The weird thing of it all is when I change the network name/password of Instacheck and start it, it changes the name of the intel Mywifi virtual network. Something between the two of them must be related.

I'm so confused!

I was hesitant to post here but hopefully someone can answer. I'm getting a very different error that I have not seen anywhere else in this thread:
The dependency service or group failed to start. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007042C)

followed by "Virtual Router Plus cannot be started."

I've looked up this error and searched endlessly on google but could not find any helpful fixes. If anyone has seen this before or knows how to fix it, I'd appreciate the help!
Okay I did some research and I found out that other things on my computer were getting that error, namely Windows Firewall. I had to restart Base Filtering Engine, and after many painstaking hours I finally flat out reinstalled it. Now I am no longer getting that error, but instead a new one

Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.

I've done more research but have not had any success trying to fix this. Anyone else know any fixes for this? I'm running Windows 7 Premium if that helps.

Well that would explain the duplicate virtual networks lol I knew that was going to be an issue.

It may be better to install the program if possible, if its still affecting the instachecker hotspot =[ you're really close to getting this working though

I'm not sure what to do about that!
Some sources online tell me that uninstalling it is extremely bad as it's vital, whereas some people say that it's just shovelware bundled with laptops.
I'm going to uninstall it. Since I installed all of my windows updates yesterday, my restore point can handle it if I need to.
