I am having a very large issue with my hostspot. It will start, and I can get the 3DS to connect to it. However, every time about ten seconds after getting connected, it will disconnect, giving me no chance to check anything or even initiate a trade. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong or how I could fix this?

Vista doesn't have the virtual AP that 7/8 have that makes the virtual hotspot possible, so no.

Btw, I hang in the #pokemon channel 24/7, and I can get instantcheck running, so if you see me, poke a message and if I'm near the computer, I'll see it and we'll see if I can check whatever you need. If you don't see an answer after a few mins, it's most likely I'm not near the computer.

Is there work being done to make this an app for a phone? A lot of people don't have Wifi adapters in their computers but do in their phones, especially android phones that would be easier to program. I can set up a wifi hotspot with two phones I have but not one desktop computer.
