Question: (hopefully not too dumb) How do I check-in to the Smogon second WiFi tournament? This is my first tournament here, I still don't really get how things work after reading through the topic.
 
after reading all those gamestop tourneys, I've wondered the moveset and EVspreads of those choice scarf kyogre. one of 'em had thunder/water spout/ice beam/surf, If I remembered correctly, but the analyses only have choice specs, and band variants, and a MIX'd kyogre which isn't the case here. I personally think it is modest: 216 spd / ?? hp / ?? spAtk, though I'm not sure how much in the HP and spAtk.
 
Dumb question: #smogon IRC channel rules say do not talk about anime. Does that include the Pokemon anime?

You have use MIRC or some IRC program, connect to irc.dejatoons.net, channel #smogontournament (I THINK?)
 
oh BTW, 1 or 2 pages before this people were having problems with ice punch sneasel....
medicham -> buneary -> sneasel is the easiest way, except smeargle is is one chain shorter (smeargle -> sneasel)

Depending on the type of whatever I'm training.
1. tuber boy with 3 gastrodon
2. cool trainer with dusclops and salamence
3. twins with raichu and clefable (sometimes)
4. stark mountain, outside
 
If I accidently ev trained my pokemon in hp and it has 255 in hp, then I gave it a pomeg berry(Reduces base hp), will the 255 go down 100?
 
Another IRC question: now that I connected to #smogontournament, it won't let me type and is telling me "#smogontournament You need voice (+v) (#smogontournament)" How do I fix this?

You aren't allowed to talk in that channel until you are checked in. Check-ins start in about 20 minutes.

Yes.

1 Berry = 255 -> 100
2 Berry = 100 -> 90
3 Berry = 90 -> 80
4 Berry = 80 -> 70

And so on, 10 by 10 until 0. If you're Pokemon has 101 HP EVs, the first Pomeg berry will still reduce it to 100, and then you'll need another 10 to lower it to 0.

The first berry lowers your Pokemon's EV to 100 if it has EVs OVER 100. If it has something like 95 HP EVs, it will be lowered to 85.

Yes, however, it's not a very good attack to use Technician with.

Fury Swipes is 18 -> 27 per hit.

27 x 5 = 135 Base damage. Multiply that by .8 because of accuracy and that equals 108 average damage.

Return can max out at 104 Base IIRC and never misses.

Double Hit is 35 -> 52.5 per hit.

52.5 x 2 = 105 Base damage. Multiply that by .9 because of accuracy and that equals 94.5 average damage.

Despite this, it's still popular to use Double Hit instead of Fury Swipes and even Return on Technician Pokemon because Double Hit has greater accuracy and Fury Swipes stops at the first miss. Fury Swipes would be better if it hit all 5 times even after the first miss. Example: Miss, Hit, Hit, Miss, Hit.

Double Hit also is much more reliable at taking out Pokemon who use Focus Sash and those who use Substitute because of the accuracy.
 
I have no idea how to use IRC, and i'm pulling my hair out. 20 minutes left to checkin for todays tourny, and i'm freaked i wont be able to. Can anyone offer assistance?
 
Which Pinsir build should I use? I'm making for for fun (and possible BT) but I can't decide between the Choice Scarf, Choice Band, and Swords Dance sets.

If a poison type without levitate/flying secondary switches in on Toxic spikes, they're removed from your side of the field. So switching in Muk on Toxic spikes removes them, Switching in Gengar or Crobat doesn't.
 
I seem to remember that in R/S, if the pokemon never got a 'x pokemon is trying to learn y move' message for a particular move, such as a Shirfty evolving before it could learn Extrasensory as Nuzleaf, you couldn't go to the move tutor once it got past the level it would have normally learned it and teach it to it anyway.

My question is this: if you transfer a pokemon past the level it can learn a DP only level-up move, can you still teach that move to it using the DP move tutor? Say I transferred a level 100 Heracross. Could I go to the move tutor and learn Close Combat?

when using dittos and everstones to breed, does the everstone have to be on the ditto to work?

eg. can i put everstone on a female magikarp and breed with a ditto and get the 50% chance of same nature as the female magikarp?
