When you go online on Gen 4/5, the first thing it did after getting a valid internet connection is connect to an authentification server. After being authorized, it would connect to the GTS network - or a FakeGTS. When Wi-Fi went down, so did that server. That's why Pokécheck/etc doesn't work anymore: if they just took out the GTS network and such, FakeGTS would be fine. So unless there's a way to spoof that authentification, "fan made" (FakeGTS) servers aren't happening.
At least, that's my knowledge of it.

What about trading in the union room with someone you exchanged friend codes with? Does it require a server too?

No, that's local wireless. DS to DS communication, no internet / server required at all. You can still trade in the Union Room same as ever for transferring Pokémon from one cart to another.
The Wi-Fi room is the one that doesn't work.
Well sorry I don't think it was in the union Room...but I meant sharing Friend Codes and then trading with Wi-fi in Poke Center but not in GTS...
In 4th gen I think it was in the basement of the pokemon centers ...
Requires Wi-Fi = doesn't work at all. GTS is just part of Wi-Fi.

Once again I have access to HG/SS for Apricorn and Safari Ball Pokémon, still working on finishing out the female Safari Ball collection as well.
I do have a small collection of 5x IV Pokémon, which I have some left from a Lightning Rod Pichu event I did.
Please PM if you have any of the 4 Dream Ball Pokémon I need and we can figure out a trade.
I don't need IVs, just female, Dream Ball, and ability in the case of Basculin.

Are you aware Duskull and Keckleon are the same as Plusle and Minun as far as having no Dream World HA Flag? Since, I assume you have those already and those are also impossible to have.
Dream ball duskull is impossible or just with its ha?
