After watching so much aim/chimpact/blunder/whoever else and listening to their advice about how playing with friends helps to make you better, I finally got motivated to take some action. So hopefully I can meet some folks and start improving!

I guess I started where you left off lol. Anyways, welcome to Smogon! I hope you've tried Showdown? It's amazing how easy it is to find people to play with using the simulator, and if you would like some in-game people to play with, visit the "Wi-Fi" room/thread. Greetings, on here I go by the name of Befficient (not saying my real name 'cause I'm paranoid), English is not my first language, and I've been playing Pokemon since I was a little kid when I got Pokemon Emerald. Since back then I've loved Pokemon in all shapes and forms until I quitted when my Pokemon White was stolen from me, and stayed as far away as possible from anything Pokemon-related for a couple years. But I came back some months ago, and ended up discovering Smogon and Pokemon Showdown by accident.
While I'm not really at competitive person at all because those bloody bastards always brag and laugh at me when they win, I hope the Smogon (and the Pokemon Showdown) community is nice enough not to mock me after my inevitable defeats.
Eh... What else? My favorite tier is Monotype, which is what led me to find this site, and I'm too scared to fight against anyone in Pkmn Showdown because I know I'm gonna get 'owned'. I just hope that people don't believe I'm some kind of exaggerating whiner or an attention seeker because I wrote so much about myself.

As Ragnarocking said, internet security is a perfectly fine reason to not state your name! I also started at Emerald ( <3 ), and it is still my favorite game. Please don't stay away from competitive battling just because some idiots boast afterwards. We all started somewhere, and I don't think that anyone has a right to brag after winning. That's why Smogon and Showdown are perfect for you! Yes, there are some that like to show off, but just ignore those jerks; the rest of our community are kind, funny, creative, and are good at teaching. Visit the "Monotype" room to discuss the tier and as a result get better at it, and don't be afraid to battle because you might lose! Believe me, I've lost too many times to count... Anyways, have a good time and I'll see you around!

Hi Quebien I've been on showdown a lo- WAITIMNOTTHEONLYONEWHOSTARTEDWITHEMERALD-t and it's really fun. Half the reason I do UU is the evolution of my favorite poke, gee, I wonder who that is is viable in it.
 
Hi, I'm Trystan and this is my first year of competitive play. Using Smogon I've learned more in the past week than I knew from my previous 10+ years of playing just through storylines. I started playing when I was four and haven't been able to or wanted to put the games down since. I'm hoping to continue my expansion of knowledge and maybe actually be competitive this year thanks to Smogon. Thanks for reading!

Before doing what QueBien mentioned, you should probably read all the resources at the bottom of the link. Always read the rules for any subforum you're posting in, make sure you have enough descriptions and a nice, presentable format, and will draw more attention from official Team Raters so you can improve your team! Feel free to ask any more questions if you like.

Looking for some older people to star gaming with, I recently got myself a 3ds and I've been playing since gen1, my dsi with 2k hours of pokeblack game was stolen from 3+years agos.

we will skip all the crap and get straight to it, things are great now! I got my system with X and as for Christmas. In the that time until now I've logged 300 hours and 200 pokemon from completing my dex.

I also play halo 2 Vista and occasionally check out pokemon streams on twitch and would one day like to do that myself.

Hello! I'm GrandmasterEmpoleon!, I joined 2 years ago, but I've only been able to post now because of some email mishap now fixed...
I've seen a lot of competitive battling(Going to even VGC 15 Worlds to watch) although I'm not that familiar with it, but I hope i can learn well!
