General Introduce yourself!

*waves* Hiya Smogon community,

I am a new member. i don't mind it is ya call me Ice, Icestream, Icy, Icicle, or any variation.

I joined to get to know the pokemon community, sense i've been playing the games for about 3 years now, and have been an adoring fan of the series sense i was 4. Recently however i've really taken an interest in battling many of the pokemon i've formed bonds with.

Can I call you Icee? ;) Welcome to the community! If you need help getting around, feel free to ask me or someone like TheHoodedGamer, chester0334, or Fluke. I've been playing casually for a couple of years, but competitively for little over a year. Ever since I played Emerald, I was hooked to the franchise, and I was introduced to Showdown by a good friend of mine. My favorite Pokemon that I've taken a liking to as I went through the games are Bisharp, Scizor, and Lucario. I use them somewhat often in my teams, but I haven't been playing competitively recently. Anyway, I hope you have a great time here!
 
Hi there Smogon

I finally made an account here after a few months of lurking. I played pokemon since the very begining of RBY and decided to jump into competitive battling about a year ago. I really enjoy UU and Random Battle/Battle Factory so far. Tbh UU was the reson for creating an account in the first place since i want to try out the UU Dark Horse Project :-).
Let´s see what i can learn here and I hope to met new people. I am from Germany btw, so i hope my English will be decent enough most of the time ;-).

Hey there _pe5e_, welcome! I also started with R/B/Y, and haven't stopped ever since. I did skip B/W(2) though. UU is also my favorite tier, along with NU and RU.

Welcome to the forums! I haven't really played Generation 5 too much, but I liked what little time I spent playing the games. Take a look at our Tutoring Program: more experienced players can help you improve your battling skills! You can sign up for the next round (97, if I recall correctly) to get started. I'm sure you'll find Smogon to be a fun place to learn and hang out, but if you find yourself needing some help, feel free to ask your questions in the Simple Questions threads or PM me, chester0334, Fluke, or TheHoodedGamer. I hope you enjoy your time here!
 
Hey, this is my first forum, so this is very new to me, but I have been battling competitively for a good while, and I came to smogon for competitive movesets. I would like to make better teams on showdown, and in official games. I appreciate your support. :)

Hey welcome to smogon. The best place to go for this would probably be the battling 101 forum. I can give you a few tips or even help you construct a few teams starting tomorrow. I have to study for the ACT so I cannot help much. If you need a few basic wifi related questions answered go to the wifi forums. Then post a question in the Simple Questions Simple Answers thread. I can help you out as well as these users QueBien TheHoodedGamer and Fluke.
 
Hey everyone!

Been lurking on the forums for a few months to get a feel for the community and such, now I feel like I can make a proper introduction. but I'm 23, from the Southern US, and started playing pokemon since Gen 2, I started competitive battling last year with XY, mainly because of the improved IV breeding mechanics, and now I'm just working on strategies and team synergy to hold my own in the Meta. So far I've improved leaps and bounds over the past year, but now I'm here on smogon to get help rounding out a good team and just have fun.

Thanks for the opportunity to introduce myself! looking forward to what Smogon has to offer and I can't wait to contribute to the Smogon meta.

Welcome to smogon dude:) My very first goal when joining smogon was to help out the community and improve on my battling skills. I have been on the sight for a great one year and probably have a stupidly high post countXD. I started in to play pokemon in generation 4 and I started to attempt competitive battling in the later end of generation 5. I wish you good luck on smogon and I would be glad to help you out in anyway possible just let me know if you need something by PM or by posting on my profile. You can also ask TheHoodedGamer, QueBien, and also Fluke for help and they can help you out.

Hey there! I'm the same age and live in the same general region as you do. Anyhow, if you aren't sure on which metagame you're wanting to get involved with, the Competitive Discussion section lists every official metagame supported by Smogon (as you can probably tell by my sig, I'm very involved with the RU tier lol) Note that each metagame's subforum has a resources thread that will give you links to key threads within the subforum. Some even list veteran players you can approach for advice and questions you may have on the tier (I know RU does. Idk about the others, tho they probably do) If you already know the basics, but just need help building a team and learning general strategies commonly used in a specific tier (OU, RU, Ubers, etc.) then keep an eye on the Battling 101 Forum next Friday, June 19th for when the next round begins. Battling 101 is a tutoring program Smogon has that pairs up new battlers with veterans of the tier they want to learn to help them get started and get a good feel for the specific tier they want to learn. Past generations, such as BW and DPP are supported too if the ORAS metagames don't suit you well. (note that the RU tier specifically only dates back to BW whereas most other tiers date back to ADV at worst)

Thanks for the tip! I'll keep a lookout for Battling 101 next week!

But sorry for not being that specific, but I am leaning more towards UU, then might get more involved in OU once I secure a more solid win rate.

Hey no problem. UU is a solid choice to start out as it can be easily argued that UU is the most balanced tier currently, likely making it the easiest to pick up atm
 
Hello Everyone, this is Trambo here. I play Balanced Hackmons and have had several alts in top 10 simultaneously. I used to play Classic Hackmons and had the same feat till the ladder went out of service. I will be happy to help anyone with this meta , as well as learn from others about the other 'other metas' :D

Nice to meet you! I also play Balanced Hackmons, as it is one of my favorite tiers, but I usually play OU, 1v1, or Random Battles. I do love to visit the Other Metas room, though. I never really liked Classic Hackmons, as I just don't find such a tier filled with Wonder Guard and Huge Power fun. Balanced Hackmons is better in my opinion as there's more diversity. Have you visited the OM room? There are a lot of great people there that make Showdown a fun place to be in. Join in on the OM chats in the forums if you'd like to get involved, and talk to some of the main users there to find out how you can help. If you need any questions answered, check out the Questions threads, the Help form, or PM someone such as me, chester0334, Fluke, or TheHoodedGamer. I hope you enjoy your time here!

Long time pokemon fan, understand the game well and wish to learn and see more here. looks like a pretty cool place. Yo Bowser, welcome (lol). Have you been active on the forums at all? I'm wondering, since you only have one post. I guess you've been lurking a lot, so I doubt you need someone to show you around. Correct me if I'm wrong!

I personally don't really like OU. I'm more into NU/RU/UU and Ubers from time to time. What makes OU so special for you? Quite curious.

PS: What is Corphisism? Like, believing in Corphish? :P

Sup Guin. If you're mainly here for trading, I suggest taking a look here. Other than that, have you never skipped a generation? I skipped B/W(2), and I personally don't regret it. Started playing them lately to catch some legendaries and wow, I think they're pretty bad.

I skipped ORAS, actually. But other than that, no - and that includes spinoffs, like Mystery Dungeon and Colosseum.

I only played BW2 for N's Zorua, though. Haha.

Welcome to Smogon! I joined the site around the same time I joined PS!. I've loved the franchise ever since I started with Emerald a few years back. I play all kinds of tiers, especially OU, 1v1, and Random Battles. Do you visit any specific rooms in Showdown? I usually frequent the Other Metas room, as it's a great community. As a Mario / Smash Bros. fan, I approve of the name lol. Fun aside, it's good to hear that you play at least some RU. If you ever want to learn more about the tier in general (metagame, key figures in the community, C&C, etc.) don't hesitate to ask. If you're wanting to learn more about a specific tier (such as RU or OU) then you may want to keep an eye on the Battling 101 Forum come Friday as that's when the new round is supposed to start (for sign-ups at least.)
