Hydro Pump is Carvanha's primary STAB move; when backed by Life Orb and Carvanha's respectable Special Attack, it's strong enough to 2HKO some of LC's premier walls, including Spritzee and Porygon. Dark Pulse is a more reliable STAB move that hits most Water-types for neutral damage, on top of heavily damaging Slowpoke and Frillish. Ice Beam provides coverage against Grass- and Dragon-types; if you don't mind the drop in accuracy, using Blizzard instead nets some cool KOs, such as those on Cottonee and offensive Vullaby. Protect guarantees that Carvanha reaches at least +1, which is helpful given that 16 Speed is not particularly fast for an offensive Pokemon. Destiny Bond is a decent choice over Protect if Carvanha is used as part of a Water spam core, and needs to guarantee the kill on shared checks; however, the unexpected power of Hydro Pump usually does the trick. Hidden Power Fire is an option if Ferroseed is particularly troublesome.

The given EVs maximize Carvanha's damage output, while allowing it to outspeed 15 spe Choice Scarf users after one turn. A Modest nature is necessary to net some significant KOs, such as the 2HKO on full health Spritzee with Hydro Pump. Life Orb is the best item for Carvanha, because the recoil does not noticeably hinder Carvanha's already nonexistent bulk and drastically amplifies its damage output. Reducing Carvanha's HP IVs to 9 lowers its HP to 19 so that it only takes 1 damage from LO recoil. The remaining EVs are put into SpD so that Porygon's Download boosts its Attack; Carvanha has no business taking priority attacks it doesn't resist, anyways, so an investment in Defense is pointless.

Usage Tips
========

If you think Snubbull or Spritzee is coming in, blow em away with HYDRO PUMP.
If it looks like Porygon is their main Carvanha check, blast it with a HYDRO PUMP.
Scarf Pawn comin in, thinking it can take a Waterfall? HA! Show em who's boss with HYDRO PUMP.
If you think Chinchou is coming in, go with a HYDRO PUMP (if Stealth Rock isn't up) or BLIZZARD (if Stealth Rock is up) and then finish em with DARK PULSE.
If you know Pony isn't carrying Wild Charge and they don't know you're special, HIT EM WITH A HYDRO PUMP WITHOUT FEAR FOR BURNS, because you're SPECIAL.
Bring it out early game to lure out checks, or save it until the end of the match to act as a potent late-game cleaner; Special Carvanha is always good.

Team Options
========

Carvanha is a fairly self-sufficient cleaner and wall-breaker, but like all offensive Pokemon, it appreciates hazards to wear its checks down and grab a few extra KOs here and there. Snover and Snow Warning Amaura allow Carvanha to take advantage of Blizzard more safely. Switch-ins to Carvanha's revenge-killers, including Timburr, Croagunk, and Fletchling, are helpful, especially if Carvanha is sent out early in a match. Special Carvanha pairs extremely well with other offensive Water-types, such as Corphish and Tirtouga, due to its ability to smash through their shared traditional checks.

I'll do 3/3 once usage tips has less HYPE HYPE CAPS EVERYWHERE, also in addition to talking about its role as a lure, talk about other stuff it does (ie late-game sweeping). The rest is solid.

(remove paragraph) If you think Chinchou is coming in, go with a HYDRO PUMP (if Stealth Rock isn't up) or BLIZZARD (if Stealth Rock is up) and then finish em with DARK PULSE.
