Typing: The Mod {Slate #5 (Space Type) - Submission phase}

Congrats to Jpixelcube for winning this phase with his space type. We're now entering in the long, fastidious but really exciting submission phase. As always,here are the rules:

In submission phase, you can submit for any of these:
- Matchups (complete list, one per user)
- New moves (with healer typing)
- New abilities
- New items
- Modification on older of those things
- Pokemon modifications (you have to give the healer type to the pokemon you modify, but you can modify other things as well if you want the pokemon to be usable in upper tiers)


When doing modification on pre-existing stuff, or when creating a new ability or item, be sure to have a maximum of explication so we can clearly understand how it is linked to the new type. It will be refused if it's not relevant enough.

Also, remember that distribution for custom moves and abilities will be discussed in the distribution phase next week, but feel free to post examples.

With that in mind, I think we are ready to go on!

When I think Space, I think gravity. Heavy, heavy gravity. Naturally, Gravity should be retyped. I also think these matchups?

I can understand why people want ice to be Super good against space, but if just being able to exist in space is good enough for an immunity, A lot of types would be good against it. The main thing for this type is that it's good against some common types, while weak against some underused ones, like.... Normal, which really needs more good things going for it, and bug, which deserves more love. I couldn't bring myself to let grass be super-effective against it however much I wanted it to be. Since I got rid of it's normal weakness I gave it one to grass, for the same reason it's weak to Bug and Poison, being diseases. I also made it resisted by and resist its counterpart, like how bug and fighting are. Now then, for Pokemon.


Clefable - Fairy/Space: I don't want to make the whole cleffa line space-type, But definitely clefable should be. it even evolves with a moon stone!
Helioisk - Electric/Space: Some people may forget this pokemon exists, but since it's connected to the sun about as much as clefable is to the moon, i think it's fair to give it the space type.
Hoopa - Dark/Space?: I'm not too sure on this one, but since it can literally connect points in space using teleportation hoops, it could be considered a space type. Dark/space instead of Psychic/space because i think it'd fit more as dark/space.


A lot of people may not agree, but I think moonlight and Moonblast should be space-type, as they are.... well, they're moon-based attacks. I can totally understand if you'd prefer it stay Fairy-type.

    weaknesses are based off of human fears, and many people have a fear of the great unknown.
  • Most of space is dark matter, and the universe uses dark energy to grow larger.
  • Space is reeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyy old (~13.8 billion years), and it's theorized that even if the universe ended, it would just start over again.
Electric, Rock, Steel, (Chaos)
  • Machines can simulate space, and spaceships are also machines.
  • Rocks and Metal are scattered literally everywhere in Space, and populate it, so to me Space shouldn't be able to do much to it.
  • Spaceships and nuclear fusion.
  • Just in case. There's plenty of chaos in space, like supernovas, gamma ray bursts, etc that destroy a lot of stuff in space, and space doesn't control chaos like it does dark energy.
Fighting, Flying, Psychic, Time
  • It would be pretty hard to fight in space with virtually no gravity and no leverage.
  • See above in "Super Effective"
Electric, Rock, Steel, (Chaos)

Dark
  • Since the universe uses dark energy to expand, if a

B/C that sounds really annoying :<
How would the ability even work in the first place, seeing as the attack that would cause the attacker to flinch has already been executed? Doesn't make sense with how flinching typically functions.
 
Maybe just decrease the chances to, like, 10%, and it would became a situational but annoying ability more than a ragequit generator.

I dont think it would be balanced to have Space be hurt so much by normal moves, seeing as Normal type moves are made for the sole purpose of being extremely balanced with only 2 things resisting it and 1 being immune. being weak to stuff like Return, Frustration, and Extreme Speed which a lot of pokemon Normal-Type or not use would be really bad.

I did not expect the first complaint to be of it being too weak tbh. But, yeah, now that I think about it the go-to coverage type may not be the best weakness.... I'll change it to a different type weakness.

Gravity makes heat. The colder it is, the less gravity there is. Simply put, empty space has no temperature, so drowning Ice in space isn't going to work.

I'll explain my type matchups a bit better now...

Attacking
2x: Steel, Flying, Electric, Normal

Steel is crushed by gravity and in upon itself. Flying types are crashed to the ground and in the etherous vacuum of space, there is no 'up.' In space, light cannot escape the super gravity of a black hole, and normal people always die to space invaders.

Most of these are balance. But time and space resisting each other is because they are the same thing. I could go a step further and have them both be immune to each other, but that'd be extreme.

Defending
2x: Water, Rock, Fairy, Heart

Fairies tend to have strong moon affinity, and Dark, BLACK Holes suck in space and time. Water is heavier than ice, which is why ice floats, and Rocks are heavier still. Just go with it...

.5x: Time, Ground, Fire, Poison, Fire, Dragon, Steel

Again, mostly filler, but hey, if we got a type that puts Naganadel in its place, then sign me up, it curbs the use of offensive dragons reliant on Quake, and resisting Dragon or Ground and being immune to flying? Will that make people less interested in Aerialate megas? Does this force Lando to use Rock moves?

0x: Flying

Again, where the vacuum of space exists, there is no flight, because there is no up or down. There is technically float, though.

This is a great opportunity to make mons deemed strong, more viable in the sense they're less overcentralizing, and a good space re-typing could have an amazing Clefable effect.

Gravity makes heat. The colder it is, the less gravity there is. Simply put, empty space has no temperature, so drowning Ice in space isn't going to work.

I'll explain my type matchups a bit better now...

Attacking
2x: Steel, Flying, Electric, Normal

Steel is crushed by gravity and in upon itself. Flying types are crashed to the ground and in the etherous vacuum of space, there is no 'up.' In space, light cannot escape the super gravity of a black hole, and normal people always die to space invaders.

Honestly this type seems a bit too powerful to me. It covers Steel's weaknesses except for Fighting (there might be some of the custom weaknesses) which could provide some really annoying defensive cores without weaknesses.

Nah man, space doesn't resist itself, so it hits Steel/Space SE, and water will be annoying for this combo to deal with, as will dark. If you mean offensively? That I could believe, adding water to the Time resistors could make it a less perfect coverage combo.

Not just that, I do not think we really need Dark-type to be SE against five types already. It is SE against Heart and Time, and remember that Knock Off is a very potent move with large distribution. Plus black holes are only named like this because of their own powerful gravity that it ended up absorbing light (so Space SE vs Light as future note, in that case), and not made of actual darkness.
 
Normal type moves are made for the sole purpose of being extremely balanced with only 2 things resisting it and 1 being immune. being weak to stuff like Return, Frustration, and Extreme Speed which a lot of pokemon Normal-Type or not use would be really bad.

It could be used as a really good way to balance out what could otherwise be a very powerful type if the time came. Slap a normal weakness on it and then the return policy becomes brutal if you catch my drift.

Not just that, I do not think we really need Dark-type to be SE against five types already. It is SE against Heart and Time, and remember that Knock Off is a very potent move with large distribution. A good point, heart weakness might be better. Hopefully these changes balance things out.
