SPOILERS! Pokemon Sword & Shield Pre-Release SPOILERS - Check Post 2!

I mean your points don't change my perspective as I agree that we shouldn't be alright with certain quality changes that matter to us individually. However, at the same time many things fall under personal tastes. You've explained where you come from, I just do not feel convinced as it comes off as shaming people for liking something you don't personally care for.

As someone who spend much, maybe to much, time about how to feel about sword and shield, sadly, you couldn't give me anything new in my point of view, but that's fine. I liked the discussion and maybe, you see some things different now.

Feel free to ignore that point. It's not an attempt in any way, that is just the way I feel about some of your arguments.

Nope, that is not even close to what I wanted to say.
It was more: "I hope you can enjoy the game", as well as I still have the feeling, you tried your best to make others raging on the games as well. Maybe in the end, you're going to like it.
Why the hell would I care what you're doing with your money?

Also, just to make sure you really got my point - I never tried to convince you of my feelings for SwSh.
I tried to explain, why I'm looking forward to the games.

Don't take this the wrong way but discussing this with you is very frustrating. Not because you don't see my point, but because you are dismissive of my perspective, reducing it to nothing more than "trying my best to make other rage" and labeling me as "someone who spend too much time discussing my feelings." I hope this response doesn't make me look like a dick but I implore you in the future to be a little more open to other's perspectives.

I apologize if it comes across as shaming. I can see how my posts did come across that way. I don't mean to sound vitriolic. I am just passionate about this issue.

"Seems it's an evolution with hiccups rather than the revolution people expected"

I can't say without playing it myself, but this feels like the crux of it. People expected more from the first proper mainline game on Switch than what Sword and Shield seem to be delivering, and cutting out past Pokemon left everyone with a sour taste in their mouth whether they think its understandable or not

I'm well aware of your perspective and your feelings, but none of them did matter for my argumentation. And as I said, you have some good points, but, coming back again and again to mostly the same arguments and, excuse me, unrealistic suggestions, like a different release time. Ironicly, I agree with you in many points. It's just, I'm "over" the point of discussion, because I have an opinion about how to feel right now (in contrast to you, again, that's nothing bad, but you said yourself that you're unsure).
Also, I never labeld you as "someone who spend too much time discussing my feelings". That's what I did to come to one point:
I'm looking forward to the game, with joy.

And now an advice from my side:
It's okay to see issues, pointing on issues and discuss issues. But being passionate about issues just make you less sensible for the good things.
Try a more neutral view next time.

So yesterday another kinda major team was spoiled for me. It's actually something I already knew from guidebook leaks but with an interesting addition...

It seems like at some point (likely after the champion battle) you have one final fight with Hop... and he uses the mascot legendary not in your version of the game as his last Pokemon. This makes him the second ever NPC trainer in a main series game aside from the Rainbow Rocket heads to use a mascot legend on their team, the first being the final fight with N in BW1 where he used either Reshiram or Zekrom depending on version. I didn't really know what to think of Hop at first: I wasn't quick to jump on the "cheerful brown man? must be a Hau clone" circlejerk in the slightest and I was willing to give him a chance, but he didn't seem extremely compelling at a glance. But assuming he gets a hold of Zacian/Zamazenta in a believable way, that's just plain badass.

Speaking as someone who works in the games industry in a role that would handle this sort of import script stuff (tools programmer), I can tell you that this fanfiction was definitely written by someone who has no idea how anything works. I can't believe people are falling for this garbage, especially when you can find all these models on modding sites and people have put them in various other games like GTA and skyrim.

Besides, people have datamined the models now and they're exactly the same as the ones from the 3ds.

Pyritie That is sort of why I put "grain of salt". As for saying the individual knows nothing about how anything works can be attributed to you as well; we only have the poster's and your word that you work at a gaming company. The models being similiar to the ones from the 3DS sort of fall in line with the post also.

Raiding with friends / other humans is a fundamental change to how we play Pokémon. Same with the wild area. This is a possible stepping stone to the game most of my friends and I have been wanting for years.

It sounds nice on paper but you aren't level balanced. You and your friends are going to 2 shot the dynamax. It will be cool playing coop but that fun will probably wear off pretty quickly.

Don't get me wrong raids are the only part of swsh that interest me at all. It just doesn't seem to be implemented well.

So I doubt it's gonna be extremely relevant, but while looking through the datamined movepool updates I noticed Araquanid got Hydro Pump...

252+ Atk Choice Band Water Bubble Araquanid Liquidation vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mew: 306-360 (75.7 - 89.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Water Bubble Araquanid Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mew: 330-390 (81.6 - 96.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Water Bubble Araquanid Liquidation vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Toxapex in Rain: 160-188 (52.6 - 61.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Water Bubble Araquanid Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Toxapex in Rain: 182-216 (59.8 - 71%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Water Bubble Araquanid Liquidation vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Celebi: 152-180 (44.5 - 52.7%) -- 20.7% chance to 2HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Water Bubble Araquanid Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Celebi: 162-192 (47.5 - 56.3%) -- 84.8% chance to 2HKO

...and it seems pretty fun. Memey fun, but still.

....hey that gives me an idea...

What if Araquanid was a Dynamax target? A rain boosted water attack at 100+ base power...? Setting up for your rain team as well? Mmm...

I'm sorry if anybody's asked or answered this already, but do we know how to get more than one sweet/tart apple per game? I will be wanting to trade for somebody's flapple once the games are released (which will most likely be in exchange for an appletun of my own), but I was still wanting to own an appletun later.

This makes no sense, the remakes and third versions have little to no impact on the side merch - they could stop making these and focus on the gen games instead

The third gen games are low effort upgrades that make about half as much income as their parent games. If anything these games are the most profitable in the series and make the most sense from a business perspective.

I do that, but then the post appears in full. Here.

well thas good and all, it's a lot of work and i get it.

Saying that, WHY IN HELL, THEY KEEP A GAMING STUDIO WITH A STAFF SO SMALL????

They could do all of this if they just hire a bigger team or outsource the port of the old pokemons animation (to reduce leaks) into the new console.

Edit: better grammar

Apparently, the form is based on the Pokémon’s nature. I don’t have the list of natures that determines which form on me atm, but you can kinda guess which one goes for which form based on the name. Amped uses wilder-sounding natures like Jolly, Adamant, Sassy, etc while Low-Key uses Timid, Modest, etc.

Had this been confirmed yet? If true Amped form gets Shift Gear but that will require an physical attacking nature which isn't a good pair. Low Key form with a special attack based nature would be good without that ability, but I cannot see how Amped form based around a physical set would be useful. All the sound moves are special attacking and nothing looks good for Technician...

Someone correct me if I am completely off base.

I mean...this addresses why the simple "hire more people" reasoning has holes.

You can change natures with Mints, so the "original" nature is irrelevant for your final goals.

Very Poorly

Gamefreaks is not a indi developer that just started to develop games, in the planning fase, they can figured out the budget to produce the game and if more staff is needed.

Besides there are interviews (posted on this very forum) where they are on record saying that Sugimori want a small staff to have better control. So the budget excuse is a crappy one

Not even saying this isn't an issue. The staff issues are a problem. But at the end of the day, developers worked with what they had so blaming all the developers is extremely flawed. Blame the one who made the decision. Not everyone in GF (even then, don't harass them). Hopefully this controversy will change their mind. Even then, SwSh aren't going to be terrible games. They can be better, but they aren't terrible.

Wasn't that Masuda?

I don't blame developers, i blame management of course.

Developers are just employees and by the look of how Gamefreak is managed, they are severely exploited.

I do NOT condone harassment to any developer, that is wrong

I honestly blame TPC more than GF seeing as TPC uses their shit for merchandising and only gives GF so much money. Management is shit. SwSh looks pretty good for the shit it goes through.

I'm a little surprised that TPC is so limiting towards GF. I mean, didn't GF come first, then TPC. Wouldn't it make sense for GF to have more power?

GF, TPC, and Nintendo all have a 33% stake in pokemon, I don't TPC is in charge of GF, at least directly

It's not about "why can't they." It's about "why should they?" As depressing as that sounds, they want a reason why they should waste more money on budget if there's little to zero gain in sales. MAYBE the "boycott" will work and show them that they need more men on deck, but probably not. When cheap money-making game's like Pokemon GO exist, which outsell main series games ten times over every year, it's hard to explain why you need a bigger team to the investors, and pitching it as a "project out of love" isn't going to touch a business man's heart usually.

I do that, but then the post appears in full. Here.

The biggest problem with these nitpicks is they just tunnel vision on the Pokemon, and their battle animations. It ignores the RP animations (from Amie/Campgrounds) which use a different idle stance for Pokemon (for example Tropius stands on the ground which is entirely unseen in battle), a special system making the Pokemon's eyes/head/neck follow the player's hand, and the dozens of emotes they do when you pet them, touch them in a sour-spot, or feed them something they like/dislike, etc. It ignores the new game engine that needs to be built, the physics engine for the wind that affects the foliage and clothing and flags in the game, the human NPCs, the lighting systems that have to be be created for the engine, the huge backdrops they now have to craft (previous this was a non-issue since most towns/fields were top-down with a non-controllable camera. (in fact Lumiose city and that city in B/W were advertised for being unique and NOT being a top-down city. In theory, once they finish all of that junk they can move onto the next game and build onto it. But for some reason all of their reviews have them acting like they... want to put all that work to waste and "never" go back on Dexit

IMO, a big secret reason they're sticking with these 3DS models is due to Pokemon GO. GO outsells the main series by an incredible amount due to the nature of its micro-transactions, and that game borrows models from the handheld series. If they make a new Pokemon game that uses hyper realistic models, they won't be able to give them to Niantic. It would look weird if PoGO added Gen 8 Pokemon that all looked hyper realistic while all the previous gens looked like cartoon characters. Niantic does not have a strong 3d modeling team and they seem incapable of creating their own Pokemon models, so it seems like GO's life is going to absolutely RELY on the main series never deviating from it's current artstyle. Hell I would NOT be shocked if they start pumping out new generations of Pokemon more often so GO can continue adding new Pokemon each year like it currently does. It's already on Gen 5 and they'll be out of updates in a few years. But if GF keeps pumping out new generations (partially explaining the need to "never" have a full Dex again as they'd rather focus on adding new things instead of ensuring all the old things get in), PoGO will have all the ammo it needs to live far into the future and continue making millions thanks to whales who devour micro transactions like plankton.
