dk what temperature my take on this is but smogoff & firebot do/did different things better/worse imo. smogoff's still something of a blank slate, i feel - it's got plenty of time to build its own culture up (unless all the mods get banned again or sth idk)

are you referring to old tetris, where a piece is stuck as soon as it touches another? or to newer tetris, where you can slide around even after you hit another piece, go for t-spins, save pieces for later, and so on?
old tetris is a game for the sophisticated. it rewards planning, precise movement, and keeping your calm in the face of adversity. it's a game for great generals - the napoleons, hannibals, and julius caesars of the gaming community. new tetris is a flashy game, for adderral addicted mountain dew chugging pro-gamer wannabes. completely undignified
also, the plural of tetris is tetrises. not relevant, but a fun fact.

I really don't wanna be that guy, I really really don't, but after ruminating it over I've decided I hate modern social media humor. I get that times are rough and all but even aside from that I wanna know when it became cool to be perpetually cynical and miserable for the lulz and also when it became cool to schizophrenically alter between late stage capitalist brand fellatio and wannabe communist LARPing at the drop of the faceless corporations' hat. I truly believe my generation will do great things but considering we tried to make "ok boomer" into a serious political statement I don't think comedy will be one of them
