SPOILERS! Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Data Dumps

I would imagine another reason to run Poison Jab is that it's effective against Grass types that resist Ground, since it's only competing with the less powerful STAB in those instances. Makes more sense for an ingame opponent since you know players will have a grass type a lot of the time (though since ground resists poison so it doesn't work with Torterra specifically).

The question you should be asking about Garchomp isn't what coverage move it should use, it's how long will it last until it gets banned again like in the good old days. :P

If we're speculating about Pokemon that have a history of being banned, Staraptor has gotten banned from UU every generation since its introduction in DP! As much as I'd hate to see that streak end, Reckless might be enough of a buff to get Staraptor into OU. 100 Speed with Brave Birds and Double Edges that outdamage even the strongest +0 Outrages makes it sound like a really good Choice user. Close Combat hits everything that resists STABS and Defog can be a really useful fourth move. Speaking of Defog, Gen 6's Hazard removing Defog buff alone would make this different than DP's meta and I wonder what losing Toxic will do for the viability of every defensive Pokemon that lost it. (AKA most of them) Even if we can transfer Pokemon to BDSP from Home, there's still a few months until it gets updated so we're stuck with just BDSP's movepools.

Eviolite was introduced in Gen 5 and, correct me if I'm wrong, wasn't every held item after Gen 4 (except the Fairy Plate and Resist Berry) cut?
Correct, Eviolite is not a thing, which also means Chansey has no reason to be used over Blissey at all.

Anyway, for Chomp, stuff like "effective BP" are not a thing - benchmarks are far more important. If you get a guaranteed OHKO with a 80% accurate move and a 2HKO that makes you lose to the opponent always with a 100% accurate move, you would rather run the move that gives you 80% chance of winning. I haven't done the calcs at all, but I honestly doubt Poison Jab or Iron Head will see much on Garchomp, if anything, I predict EQ, Outrage, Stone Edge, and Fire Blast will be its main moves, as Fire Blast covers almost every Steel in the tier that could take an Earthquake alongside also covering Tangrowth if it becomes a threat.

Yeah, I didn't mean to give the impression that benchmarks were unimportant, just that (in)accuracy doesn't mean a move is inherently less effective. And maybe I'm wrong, but isn't Fire Fang the preferred coverage on SD chomp this gen? Is BDSP adding anything that makes mixed necessary?

It would be on SD, yes, but Fire Fang isn't avaliable for Garchomp here (or at least I couldn't find it)

Skarm will definitely be more relevant again, so FB is definitely worth the slot if you're not running SD.

Realistically speaking, the main threat to Chomp is Togekiss.

You're not wrong, but I'd run calcs first and see if Jab is enough, especially after SD. Losing a sweep to Stone Miss is saaaaad. With FB to bait Skarm, I'd probably pick whatever gets closer to OHKOing Kiss too, which likely is Stone Edge.

But won't it still be available through SwSh?
Home won't be compatible until 2022. For your other posts, the game simply doesn't have the post-gen 4 mons programmed, so you wouldn't be able to transfer even if you have them (like you can't transfer Arceus to SwSh, for example).

Sorry, I was speaking competitively, not in-game
We are discussing about the BDSP meta, nothing in this discussion is relevant to SWSH as chomp stays the same.
The fact there is only 493 mons in this game mean chomp has fewer checks, as stuff like Tapu fini and corvi arent in the game, you have to run skarm, togekiss or bronzong to resists its stabs.

We dont know how that is going to work yet.

Sorry, I didn't realize there would be a separate BDSP meta a la LGPE, I thought it was in reference to the broader Gen 8 meta

So a few pages ago when pre-National Dex Pokemon list was figured out there was some debate over what exactly the in-game teambuilding situation compared to Platinum was, so I've compiled a quick list of notable changes compared to that game in this aspect. This is not definitive, there may absolutely be things I'm missing, so let me know about those!

Pokemon Lost: Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Tropius, Tangrowth, Yanmega, Leafeon, Glaceon, Porygon-Z, Probopass (-12)
Pokemon Gained:
Pinsir, Jynx, Mew, Ursaring, Jirachi, Mismagius, Honchkrow, Purugly, Skuntank (+9)
Also worth noting the version exclusivity of Electivire/Magmortar, Honchkrow/Mismagius and Ursaring/Gliscor
Pre-existing options that got significantly buffed
-Every Pokemon that got Fairy type (Clefable, Mr. Mime, Azumarill, Gardevoir, Togekiss)
-Houndoom, Scyther, Swinub, Skorupi and Croagunk being obtainable MUCH earlier via Grand Underground
-Munchlax being actually feasable to use due to Grand Underground
-Swords Dance Bibarel
-Quiver Dance Wormadam
-Early Recover Shellos
-Roselia is in Zone 3 of GU, meaning that in exchange for waiting a bit you don't gotta babysit Budew
-Togepi also requires much less babysitting due to GU availability at much higher level than Cynthia's gift
Pre-existing options that got significantly nerfed
-Strength boulders cover up Gible cave, also only appears in Underground at Badge 7
-Getting good Ice STAB for Sneasel is harder due to needing to get lucky with Underground encounters, also lost Feint Attack in its level-up movepool

Like I said, probably forgetting things on both ends, but all in all it seems like a net gain to me (edit: apparently not according to some more adept analyzers than me)

RIP Weavile, Mamoswine it is on the team then.

Can someone rate this team out of 10? Also open to suggestions and what to change thanks <3.

Tbh, we don't know for sure either.

Just talking about its potential.
We do have some information. For one thing, we aren’t expecting any compatibility between SS and BDSP for a while, if ever, so there is a strong likelihood that any BDSP-based meta would be kept separate.

To paraphrase from Finchinator, the current OU council would not be involved in said BDSP meta if the aforementioned scenario happened. Higher-up admins are still discussing whether a BDSP format will be made and who will be in charge of it. The extent of meta discussion would have to be fairly limited since we currently don’t know much about any meta conditions.

if the movepools are all trash the meta is going to suck tbh

9/10. This team looks like something i’d conjure up on BDSP ladder and I love it.
Looks pretty savage, here's what I'm rolling with:

Pretty good, 9/10, Mismagius and Houndoom are great picks, and Bibarel is nice to use since it’s out of a job in the HM slave buisness. Or since its referred to as an HM slave, would that mean it’s been freed? I don’t know and likely don’t care, so i’ll just call it a day and say this team is great as well.
But enough about you. Let’s talk..me!

Check it. Not one, but two gift mythicals. Anyways Honchkrow is great because I don’t have to wait 20 hours for a dusk stone, Toxicroak because Croagunk is unironically one of the best pokemon in Sinnoh, rivaling even that of my beloved Piplup line and Tangrowth. Magmortar because I love it and also because there are basically damn near no other fire types? Like Houndoom is a good candidate but i just like Magmortar more, what can i say im a sucker for cannons. And Torterra. Ah, Torterra. Somehow, you managed to become outright equal to my previous #1 in Piplup. It was a hard choice.
But no doubt will you be the ideal pokemon for this remake.

I had to manually manipulate the page to get the extra slots (at this rate I might make a planner myself for those who need more than 6 Pokémon to show), and there are some things to be confirmed depending on when they are obtained (most importantly, if I can get the starter I do not start with via Wonder Trade, and how Spiritomb works), but this is my plan:
