Prepare for trouble, and make it double! (Sorry for repeating guys, but this fits like the ring on the finger) Welcome to the second annual Random Doubles Open! This tournament is your chance to showcase your skills in the current generation of Random Doubles in a single elimination best-of-3 series (best-of-5, quarterfinals onward).
This tournament is part of our ongoing Rands Slam circuit. Stay tuned after this tour for news about the next (and last!) one.
The winner of the Random Doubles Open will receive the Room Prize Winner rank in the Random Battles room for a month, be inducted into the Randbats Hall of Fame, and be awarded points for the Rands Slam. The winner of the Slam Playoffs Round will get a custom avatar and a Smogon banner for a full year, along with a year-long Room Prize Winner rank and joinphrase.
How does this tour work?
It's simple: 1. Contact your opponent on their Smogon wall and decide on a time to battle.
2. Battle each other in the format "[Gen 8] Random Doubles Battle".
3. The first player to 2 wins (3, quarterfinals onward) advances to the next round.
Please note:
1. All scheduling attempts MUST be done publicly on Smogon walls. No other proof of communication will count for act calls regarding scheduling attempts.
2. If you participated in any of the previous Random Battles Open tournaments and have since changed your Smogon name, LET US KNOW in your signup post.
3. You MUST post replays of your wins.
We strongly recommend familiarizing yourself with the Smogon Tournament Rules and General Guidelines, if you haven’t already. If you have further questions, don’t hesitate to contact the tour hosts - Fragments, Roginald or myself - here on Smogon.
When spectating Rands Slam battles, do not ghost. Ask yourself, “Would my comment reveal information that hasn’t already been explicitly revealed in this battle?” Examples of ghosting include pointing out that an unexpectedly fast Pokemon must be holding a Choice Scarf, that a Zoroark’s disguised level proves it’s a Zoroark, etc.

The subsitutes are the last players to sign up. Mod edit for clarity: For this tour, hosts will begin making activity calls about halfway through the week, and subs will be swapped in to replace users who have no activity. I'm a little confused. My first opponent didn't respond, so I got a new opponent, and they also haven't responded, and now my first opponent's back asking to do a match that doesn't fall within the original deadline but does fall within the sub battle deadline. What should I do?
Your first opponent was subbed out due to no answering scheduling attempts. Try to reach out to your new opponent. Games vs subs have extended deadline to wednesday
My opponent has not answered me. I contacted him only on Friday, but he has not been online since signing up for the tournament, so I'm not sure if this can qualify as activity win.
