what is the mechanics behind a sleep talker holding a choice item? does sleep talk only choose an attack for the first time it's used, and fails afterwards?

Does a sleeping, guts heracross get a +1 attack boost when attacking using sleep talk? and if the sleeping heracross was choice banded/scarfed and you use sleep talk, does the game lock down to one move forever?

I would use my own pokemon as much as possible if only the pokemon up for trades aren't so godly already. after seeing other people breed for godly stats for standard pokemon, there isn't many standard pokemon left to breed....they've all been taken :[ and I'm too lazy to rebreed them...
