The purpose of my suggestion was to provide a defensive boost breaking option outside of (p)haze, toxic and unaware. I think you are going to see problems with calm minders in particular but I suppose let it play out.

Because a lum berry can do two things. It can absorb status instantly, like if you switch into spore or thunder wave or something, or it can turn rest into 100% recovery. Getting a turn to do something by canceling a status effect when you're incoming is really the chief advantage. Otherwise...

Generally, moves that incapacitate a pokemon are, say, twice as good. Sleep is brutal. One of my favorite pokemon to use in 3v3 is exeggutor due to the sleep/explosion combo; pokemon like him are a good reason to keep focus sashes on your team.

OHKO moves are 30% hit. Dark and poison gets dual stab and covers every non-steel type save skuntank (not really an issue), toxicroak (questionable), and t-tar (switch out) neutrally at least, and that's all you need. The psychic steels all take neutral damage from night slash as well...
