Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
this seems like a cool concept. unfortunately in the forums there are many who like arguing back n forth and putting down others, particularly those who are lower elo. seems like a sorry pastime but who am i to judge. because of that culture i rarely bother commenting here, thought i’d pitch in...
In a vacuum, Dondozo is the best. Doesn’t mind toxic thanks to rest. Sits on Gliscor for days and can whittle it down with liquidation. But it’s easy for gliscor to set up spikes on dondozo so you’ll need to bring hazard control. You may run into some issues if your opponent has a reliable...
See, I feel like it’s easy to point out “people overhyped Zama-H and Ursaluna and Walking Wake!!” But this point, while parroted to death, is relatively meaningless. Of course people’s first impressions are not always accurate. Hindsight bias will always emphasize those cases. But what about the...
Darkrai only needs tera blast fairy and dark pulse to break through most of OU at +2. Add in nasty plot and taunt to shutdown haze pex, blissey, and fat in general. Seems most threatening on screens. Dragapult can’t revenge kill with dragon stab for fear of tera fairy. Keep this out of OU please.
Ohh my bad. Tysm for clarifying!
On a different topic, I have loved using Dondozo this gen. It feels like Gen 8 Buzzwole in that it takes a lot of pressure off the builder by checking most physical attackers. What sets are people running on the sushi fish? I've found physdef rocky helmet...
It seems like Rillaboom is getting Grassy Glide back. Thoughts on how it will fare in OU?
Zapdos/Moltres might keep Rilla from being too overwhelming but I do think it will be very good. It will notably be one of the few physical attackers that can reliably switch into and break Dondozo. Tera...
What are people’s thoughts on Roaring Moon? It’s true that as long as Gambit is legal, it always will live in the shadow of the king. But as an endgame sweeper, one advantage it has over Gambit is speed. People are increasingly running anti-sucker punch tech to deal with Gambit (wisp Cinderace...
I feel that all Ghold sets really need either thunder wave or focus blast to not be a completely free switchin for Gambit. The nasty plot/shadow ball/make it rain/recover set that saw use earlier this gen fell off because it is just too exploitable by Gambit.
I can see nasty plot + three attacks seeing a lot of use especially on screens. Dark pulse, focus blast, and tera poison sludge bomb (or tera blast if it loses the move) to surprise booster Val, scarf Enamorus, and Zamazenta. Very scary…
It seems like a gimmick to me. Needing a turn to set TR hurts in such a fast paced meta. Ursaluna doesn’t like spike stack and there’s a lot of that going on right now. Also correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t Cresselia’s healing wish have anti-synergy with Ursaluna since it resets burn?

I completely agree with you. SS and SV are two very different metagames; one is a slow regenerator pivotfest and the other is dominated by hyperoffense and hazard stack. From a common sense standpoint there is no reason to suspect boots in SV when hazards are stronger than ever. The only...
I agree! I also think that the decreased knock off distribution this generation also helps so that boots are removed less often. Less knock off is really helping Zapdos, Moltres, and bulky Cinderace sets that would otherwise struggle against hazard stack, not to mention whatever stall builds are...
Hi! New user here, I've mostly just been lurking :)
For Samurott-H, I have been using Dondozo with a rocky helmet! It can reliably switch into Samu and punish ceaseless edge with chip damage. Body Press after 2x rocky helmet chip reliably kills Samu-H. It's best paired with Cinderace on balance...
