  1. Some sort of Egg 'RNG' Abuse (Read the first post!)

to help explajn this a bit better, and to simplify things, get a male and female magikarp, take them to the battle instotute, and writoe down their level 50 stats. now go breed a magikarp, and reject the firat egg. save, then breed a second egg. accept this one, hatch it and take the lvl 1...

No clue then. they feel like it?

I think it was because of rough skin/iron barbs. Swap them out against a physical sweeper who isn't expecting it, and laugh as they take back a decent chunk of damage.

Okay, first off, in order to counter something, you have to be able to switch in against it. Once he mega evolves, you can no longer switch in without running one of FOUR specific moves that only about 1/10th of the pokemon in the game can use, and MGengar can simply use this awesome move know...
  5. Gengarite Tiering Discussion [read post #383]

You do know what the definition of counter is in the Pokemon metagame right? A counter is something that can switch into a pokemon, and threaten a kill on the next turn. As Shadow Tag means you can't switch out of the MGengar, there is no way for any pokemon to counter it. Instead, it just has...

and you are completely missing the point. anything can be killed. however, with MGengar its always either a 2 or 1 for 1 exchange, in the gengar players favor as he just took out your answer to his sweeper. congrats. you killed gengar. however, since he already took out the wall that stops my...

and we were advised to leave PS results out of this. most of the players currently using him in pokebank OU or even regular OU are using him as a special sweeper, which is not the role he is being considered for banning in, nor is it the role he is designed to play. Smogon is considering banning...

but heres the thing, thanks to how big gengars mover set is, you never know what moves he is bringing to the table. Remember, he is the ultimate assassin. If your team gets walled by Chesnaught, your Gengar will have exactly what it needs to take that thing down. and sludge wave is better. has a...
  9. Gengarite Tiering Discussion [read post #383]

No he isn't. there is this really fun move named sludge wave that gets around bulletproof. yes, only DW ghastly's can have sludge wave, but it makes an amazing replacement for sludge bomb. then you have psychic, which is super effective against chesnaught due to its fighting type, and you can...
  10. Gengarite Tiering Discussion [read post #383]

both of these points have been discussed, and ruled out. For the first one, you go mega evolve and protect. oh look, now you have shadow tag and took no damage. next turn you swap out Mega Gengar for something that counters whats currently in play, and now you have Mega Gengar waiting in the...
  11. Gengarite Tiering Discussion [read post #383]

Please remember that this thread is about Mega Gengar, not any of the other megas. Some might also end up getting sent to Ubers in the future, but right now they are not part of this discussion. futhermore, you cant compare mega gengar to mega khan like you are doing. They fit two different...
  12. Gengarite Tiering Discussion [read post #383]

at this point it seems like both sides have made their points. the poll seems to lean towards not banning it. Reading the thread, however, paints a very different picture, as the majority of the posts explain exactly why it is so powerful, while the main anti-ban posts cover the same 4 or 5...
  13. Gengarite Tiering Discussion [read post #383]

none of us for banning it are saying its unkillable. every pokemon is capable of being killed. also, none of us are saying that it has to be able to handle every threat out there simultaneously. what we are saying, and this seems to be missed, is that it is the most effective wall breaker out...
  14. Gengarite Tiering Discussion [read post #383]

yes it beats the perish set. but thats one set. MGengar has over a dozen different viable sets, allowing it to handle whatever different types your team needs handled. thats one of the major problems. it has so many potential sets that you have no way of knowing which one it has until it opens...
  15. Gengarite Tiering Discussion [read post #383]

I think the biggest reason for banning it actually comes from the no ban side. just look at all the hoops they keep having to jump through to explain how it can be beaten. if you have to use 2 or even 3 spots in your team just to bait and kill one pokemon, that one pokemon is a problem. this guy...
