I'm almost positive I've been hitting the right PID frame. I tested the latter theory with a PID that ended up with 6 as the remainder to see if something was reversed, and I still got a Cascoon. I think the game just hates me or something.

I'm fairly certain they don't, since they're moving in a set pattern. Only NPCs that move in random patterns affect the PIDRNG.

As far as I know, Ditto are only catchable in the Giant Chasm, where Sweet Scenting isn't permitted.

That would explain it. So if I save on step 127, walk 128 steps and get the counter to 127 again, but then walk 4 or 5 more steps in the grass, I will have advanced the IVRNG frame by 3 twice instead of once, getting me to frame 7 instead of 4. Thanks a bunch.

To clarify, I'm not concerned with its gender or nature. I'm concerned with the fact that it was a Piloswine instead of a Ditto. Does advancing the PIDRNG's frame change the encountered Pokemon?
