To answer striker64's question on the previous page, I've done some testing and I've found that Substitute and Belly Drum do take away a Cleffa/Clefairy/Clefable's HP with Magic Guard (admittedly, I had anticipated this... it'd seem too good to be true if they didn't deduct the HP).
