For the previous 3 generations of Pokemon games on the 3DS & it’s predecessor, I believe, I had made my purchases significantly after their initial release date and felt like competitive play was unreachable. Not only because of how behind I was, but because the hype for the game was dying down significantly therefore, it seemed almost pointless to really train a team from breeding hidden abilities, egg moves, IVs followed by EV training & leveling up in order to be a legitimate contender.
WELLLLL, enter Pokemon Sword & Shield, both of which I’ve purchased in December and while I’m sure there’s people who’ve already trained up 2-3 teams they’re loving, I’m also beginning to train Pokemon to be apart of my competitive teams.
Soooo, due to the ever evolving nature of the franchise and the significant changes to the National Dex this generation, instead of just lurking through the forums’ discussions of the past, I’m excited to participate in the current discussions of generation 8.
