  1. Why the philosophical difference between Pokemon and MTG?

I haven't played Pokemon in a while, so this question may not actually be valid anymore, but I'll go ahead and ask anyway. I have played both Pokemon and Magic: the Gathering competitively, which are similar games in that both are strategy games that require you to customize your toolset (team...
  2. Absol vs. Honchkrow

This thread is to discuss who is better as a physical sweeper: Absol or Honchkrow, two very similar pokemon. Shared Attributes: Dark-Type STAB Pursuit Super Luck 33% crit Night Slash Relatively slow Sucker Punch Poor defenses Thunder Wave Honchkrow's Attributes: Flying-STAB Drill...
  3. Ho-Oh Discussion

I guess I'm obliged to reply to this. Someone in my thread said that Ho-oh makes Gar's movepool look small. That doesn't seem so... Stealth Rock really kills it, but only Deoxys-L can use it, and lots of new stuff like Weavile and Darkrai kill it with ease. I'm not too worried about that...
  4. Wobbuffet discussion

What amuses me is that Team Rocket has an uber in their hands but they don't know it. I personally think a mixed sweeper is the best counter to Wobby. It gets 2HKOd by everything it doesn't resist, so it can't use Encore. So it comes down to a prediction war between physical moves, special...
  5. DP and Revolution

Recently, people have been finding differences between DP and Revolution as far as battling goes. And judging by Stadium and Stadium 2, I bet there are more to come. So here's my question. Do you guys think competitive Gen IV play should be based on which game?
  6. i'm high on speed (deoxys-E/S discussion)

As Surgo once said: Any. Fast. Sweeper. Anyway, I think it shoud be allowed in standard, at least at first. Then again, I'm the rebel who thinks Ho-oh is OU material...
  7. Is Ho-oh still an uber?

TBH I'm not so sure if Lugia can still be considered an uber. Yes, it has 106/130/154 Defenses or something, but it has 4 common weaknesses (Ice, Electric, Dark, Rock) and a rare one (Ghost). TTar, Weavile, Magnezone, etc. can bring it down pretty easily.
  8. Is Ho-oh still an uber?

Ho-oh has 90 base speed. Most people either make their starters speed demons (Hydro Pump Mence, Stone Edge Infernape) or stallish PHazing Stealth Rock users (Pert, Hippowdon). Sorry for the double post. I don't know how to edit with quotes from two different people.
  9. Is Ho-oh still an uber?

I agree. IMO Mew should be allowed too, even with SchemePassing. Milotic is an awesome counter, with base 125 SDef and the fact that Sacred Fire's butn will make it quite the defensive wall as well.
  10. Is Ho-oh still an uber?

Flying, Fighting, and Grass aren't particularly common types though, and Quaza/Mence/Chomp can hit bulky waters hard with CB/CG attacks. Even though they are forced to switch, they aren't threatened by a 50% hit on the way back in, like Ho-oh is. People say that Ho-oh + Rapid Spin teams will...
  11. Is Ho-oh still an uber?

I personally believe that Ho-oh should not be considered an uber anymore. Ho-oh's Uberlicious traits: Pressure - which a lot of pokemon have Physical Sacred Fire off super high Atk stat 680 Base Stat Total Awesome Atk, SDef, and HP Decent movepool including CM, Recover, T-Bolt, EQ...
  12. Official "I want to edit an analysis" thread (read first post)

Crobat is apparantly a beast in UU, even though it is a BL pokemon.
  13. Smogondex/Netbattledex coding suggestion!

I'd be willing to work on a OU metagame version of this if people want me to.
  14. Official "I want to edit an analysis" thread (read first post)

Sorry to double post - I don't know how to edit my posts. I think Swagger should be an option on Ninjask, if not even to the extent of creating a SwaggerJask moveset. I have used SwaggerJask to a lot of success when used with Magneton.
  15. Official "I want to edit an analysis" thread (read first post)

I suppose so, Great Sage. But Regice is special wall, and therefore is built to switch in to special hits. And seeing as Ice Beam (or HP Ice) is one of the most common special attacks... Also, besides for STABed Fire moves, no one would be stupid enough to use any sort of special move against...
