Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

JelliThorn is a combo that I loved to use before Thundurus T and Techniloom came into the metagame. For those of you saying that JelliThorn is very hard to counter, honestly it isn't. Both Ferro and Jelli are countered by things such as Thundurus T, Breloom, Magnezone and many others. Two of the...

Reflecting on BW and Looking Ahead to Gen VI - SEE POST #508

Negative priority reverse would be a horrible idea because of the way it would overcentralize the entire metagame. At best it will be up for the first month of testing then be considered broken and banned. Trick room and phazing moves would suddenly become broken and pokemon that were originally...

    BW2 General Metagame Discussion Thread

Yeah, I see monotype all the time on Showdown and it is getting to be very common for users who just want to have a good time. Monotype is only for the person who is not competitive and just wants to try out something new. I agree monotype is gimmicky but it is interesting to try because you...

Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Magneton is a pokemon we really should not be even bothering to talk about in an OU environment, but now that it comes up, I will say both sides have an interesting argument. Eviolite Magneton is an interesting idea in the OU metagame but, as Lord of Bays said, it has a horrible typing and is...

Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Back to Zoroark, I know for a fact that it is used more as a lead than a surprise revenger. I see it in so many battles now that I almost always expect it to come out first unless there is a better lead. I forgot to add this but Zoroark has a good, but just short of a speed stat. It fails to...

Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Actually, Zoroark is a pretty obvious pokemon in terms of playstyle. It is almost always used as a lead and most dedicated leads can counter Zoroark pretty well. Zoroark also has huge problems like being very frail which is even worse because it takes damage from all types of entry hazards. It...

Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Ferrothorn should not be S-rank for sure. Two reasons 1. It's way too predictable 2. There are several bulky threats that can take Leech Seed and Gyro Ball to an extent and set up all over it. I do agree that Ferrothorn is really bulky and does wall a good amount of dragons, it should be noted...

    OU Stats - February 2k13

Landorus is a very sad case of a pokemon. It should get much more usage than it is getting right now. In the sand, this thing is a monster. With physical sand force of special sheer force, this thing is an offensive beast. It has good enough stats to take relatively weaker hits and can easily...

No way, Tornadus should be A-rank. First reason, it hits freakin hard! Tornadus can just about 2HKO anything in OU at this point with the proper team coverage like Breloom, Tornadus can really shine. Just slap on Choice Specs or Life Orb and you have a monster on your hands. Pretty much nothing...

Simple Questions & Simple Answers & General Resources (OU Edition) MK II

You might not need a scarfer actually as long as you have good team coverage. Bulky pokes like Conkeldurr can be a problem, Volcarona in general is a problem because pretty much all viable priority move users are weak to it, and resistances like Metagross can set up all over you. That said, I...

Reflecting on BW and Looking Ahead to Gen VI - SEE POST #508

We don't know what GameFreak is going to do at this point. We already know they are fresh out of ideas (did you look at the new starters?) and this pokemon thing is getting boring even for them. But, we can hope for some changes. Nintendo has been known to improve gameplay with experience so I...

Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Snorlax sucks in today's OU metagame because of all the threats running around now like Terrakion which is on every other team. Snorlax is just simply outclassed in every way possible by other pokemon. A wall? Use Ferrothorn. A bulky attacker? Use Conkeldurr. As you can see there are many...

Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Hydreigon's greatest advantage over many of the other dragons out there is being able to go mixed and hit anything hard with its great attacking stats. I would put it in A-Rank mostly because of its great resistances, move pool, stats, and unpredictability. Remember, Hydreigon has so many...

    OU Stats - February 2k13

True that Torn T was huge, but I truly doubt that that is the full story. You say that Keldeo made a huge change, yet the number is still lower than usual in terms of rain usage. Keldeo is still in OU and if it is so good, rain should still be more common. Plus, there's also other rain based...

    OU Team Building

For the Forretress set, always use Gyro Ball, it will almost always have higher damage output with Forretress' higher attack stat and Gyro Ball's STAB. Although Landorus does wall this, Forretress is still not a good counter for it in the first place so use something else to counter it reliably.
