I don't know...I certainly haven't read through the game code, but I would bet that the locations from other games are still there, the pal park thing is most likely a flag that gets set to "TRUE" when a pokemon is transferred via those means.

You are so very much not alone on this. Old habits die hard, and I can not count the number of times I end up with the slow assed bike. I know it's been said a lot, but serioulsy, the surf speed is quite pants.
