Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
I'm not sure if this was brought to attention, but I didn't see it in the OP; Knock Off doesn't remove the opponent's item if the user faints. For example: My Landorus-T uses Knock Off on a Ferrothorn who is holding a Rocky Helmet. My Lando faints because of all the damage done by Iron Barbs and...
I'm all for new and creative ideas in Pokemon, this is a game that has the potential to do this. When you try a new team, more often then not, you build it to counter/check the top threats of the tier and, at the same time, to your liking. I have seen your post and honestly you have a very sound...
By complex I meant if it is too hard to enforce on the simulator. Think Sleep Clause: The simulator doesn't let you put two Pokemon to sleep. I was wondering if the simulator could prevent you from putting Foul Play and Swagger on the same set.
Foul Play was never the problem, using Foul Play...
Priority confusion is not a problem. Hitting yourself because you are confused is not a problem. Prankster + [INSERT STATUS MOVE] is not a problem. But you are purposely stacking the odds against your opponent AND you have a way to abuse those odds. Foul Play is a legitimate move on Klefki. If...
Again, if it wasn't as big of a problem as you think it is, why are there people wanting to ban this "strategy"? One user posted battles against players on the ladder with high ratings and beat them using his version of SwagPlay. I'm not saying that this strategy always works(hence why you said...
You have stated that you haven't laddered. How are we supposed to trust you when you don't have the slightest clue as to what you are talking about? The whole reason as to why this thread was started was because a LARGE number of users have seen it, played against it, and lost to it.
I'd like to know if banning Swagger and Foul Play on the same set too complex of a ban? If both were to be banned on the same set, it literally destroys SwagPlay. I feel this is a better alternative because previous posters have a Prankster and use Swagger on the same set for a different...
You're crippling a Pokemon to the point where they not only can't move, but you in turn can OHKO them and proceed to do the same thing with the next mon on their team. In most cases, they literally cannot do anything.
Because some Pokemon can be dedicated wallbreakers or run mixed sets. If you want to have a reliable check/counter to SwagPlay, you have to run some obscure mons/moves.
Ok. And what stops the SwagPlay team from running a Thundurus set like this?
name: Wallbreaker Swag
move 1: Swagger
move 2: Foul Play
move 3: Hidden Power Ice
move 4: SuperPower
ability: Prankster
item: Leftovers
nature: Naive
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
This beats Gliscor and...
In your strategy, you're using +2 Pokemon to pull off a Paraflinch. Klefki can para fusion you AND cause large(MASSIVE) amounts of damage at the same time. Why, if SwagPlay is not banned, would anyone use two mons when one OUTCLASSES both, has superior defensive typing, and causes more damage?
You can easily and reliably revenge kill the paraflincher. One of the major issues is that you can't reliably revenge kill a Klefki, for example, because it WILL afflict you with a status before you can TRY to revenge kill him.
Paraflinch however doesn't work on ground types and is easily disposed of by choice scar pokemon. The problem here is that you can be using a Choice Scarfed Deoxys-S and STILL be forced into confusion. Deoxys then has to either switch out or take a +2 SE Foul Play. Deoxys-S is SLOWER than Klefki...
