FabioBracht

So, yeah, I'm called Fabio. Get your free-flowing-hair-and-bare-chest jokes on the ready. :P

I usually go by my full name,
which is also my username here,
which is FabioBracht –
or simply by "Bracht".

You can call me that if you want.

It's been ages since I last participated regularly on a forum like this. Twitter killed this, then Facebook killed even more dead. But I think it's fun, and I'm very much looking forward to be a local around these parts in no time.

Brazilian, 28 (never too old for PKMN), professional writer and translator.

My history with Pokémon
I have been playing Pokémon since Gen I – started with Yellow on my Pikachu-themed blue and yellow GBC –, got REALLY hooked up on Gen II – Lugia is still my favorite legendary –, then Gen III came out but I never got in the party. No money for a GBA. Sucks.

By the time Gen IV was released, I could buy a DS with my own money. I did, but I soon felt dislocated. What was that, chaining? EV training? IVs? Natures? My God, that was too much, too complex, too time-consuming! I no longer knew the ins and outs of my favorite game. So I only played Diamond and SoulSilver casually. Beat the main story and that was it.

Gen V was the first I chose not to take part in. I just knew it was going to be the same as Gen IV: casually enjoying the story while feeling betrayed by the complexities of the post-game.

Then came along Gen VI! A new hardware, a new graphic style, a whole new paradigm! I couldn't resist, so I bought a 3DS just for Pokémon X. And I can happily say it is the best game console I ever owned, and the best Pokémon game I ever played. I'm completely hooked again, more than ever, and this time I'm not that intimidated by all the mechanics. I eased myself on all important concepts such as IV breeding, EV training, and basic team building. But I'm still 100% a newbie on competitive battling, having NO wins against skilled players on Battle Spot and NO experience whatsoever with Showdown (I'm a purist, I want to battle and train using the 3DS only).

I want to learn more and get better, so that's where Smogon comes in.

Why I am here
First of all, I'm here because I love this game and I want to be a part of this community. Second, I'm here because I think being a part of this community will bring me joy and funtimes.

Last, but not least, I'm here because I want to get better at this thing. So that's why I want to primarily be involved with the mentorship program, Battling 101, by being a tutee. After that, I want to get involved with the competitive discussions, and then, after I'm feeling confident about my skills, I'd like to be a mentor and repay the favor to the community. =)

That's it, I guess. Hope it was not too long; and you read.
