You're right about the slashes, I am glad that the sets are more diverse now and since there's a chance of Giga Drain I'll flip the Roar / Toxic slash to better accommodate the new and more challenging Tangrowth.
  3. Project Lure that Threat V2

If you look at the Other Options section on Hippowdon you'll find the SpD spread I'm using there to counter mons like Gengar, Magnezone, and Charizard Y. Not only that but Hippowdon can still check those mons thanks to his bulk and if you actually look at the damage calculator as I mentioned in...
  4. Project Lure that Threat V2

Actually I'm using a full SpD Hippo (I'm not a fan of mixed walls) so the calcs are really more like this: 0 SpA Tangrowth Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Hippowdon: 170-204 (40.4 - 48.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO 0 SpA Tangrowth Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Hippowdon: 296-350 (70.4 - 83.3%) --...
  5. Project Lure that Threat V2

Not really, since without the item/move Tangrowth can freely switch as it pleases allowing it to regen whenever the trainer wants it too. My way forces Tangrowth to take so much damage that even a single switch isn't enough to regen, with or without Giga Drain. Normal Hippowdon can only whittle...
  6. Project Lure that Threat V2

Actually that's why I put Toxic on the set. Giga Drain only does 40.4 - 48.5% to my Hippo which he can PP stall out with Slack Off forcing Tangrowth to either switch once Sand Tomb ends or get KO'd once he's out of PP in the next Sand Tomb run.
  7. Project Lure that Threat V2

The problem with this is that Keldeo vastly out speeds Tangrowth. This means you'll endeavor on the turn after a Leaf Storm which means Tanny will finish you off then switch out to regen the health back. The only way your set works is if Scald profs the burn to finish off Tangrowth or, better...

Someone get the Smogon Dex editor on the phone porque I got a (hopefully) new set for y'all called Trapdon Hippowdon @ Binding Band / Grip Claw Ability: Sand Stream EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD Careful Nature -Stone Edge -Slack Off -Toxic / Roar -Sand Tomb This set works great as a lure...
  9. Project Victim of the Week

I was under the impression that to be a counter the mon just had to win every single time no matter what it's switching into and that a check can only switch into certain moves or in certain conditions and still win. Since Dragalge can go into any attack with or without hazards and KO the...
  10. Project Victim of the Week

Dragalge @ Choice Specs / Life Orb Ability: Adaptability EVs: 200 HP / 252 SpA / 56 Spe Modest Nature -Draco Meteor -Sludge Wave -Hidden Power Fire -Scald Counter Dragalge is one of those mons that I just don't see enough of. With access to Adaptability (my favorite ability), decent defensive...

  14. Project Lure that Threat V2

Well you're right KidMagic, no one would switch a Hippowdon into MCame but truth is, there are no mons save Chansey/Blissey that can really, safely, switch into an MCame attack. That's why I made an EV set based on a free switch into MCame. Hippowdon normally out speeds MCame which is why I...
  15. Project Lure that Threat V2

Not gonna lie, this one was kinda hard and not just because Mixed Wall Hippo is hard to break open, but because most every mon that would normally be checked or countered by it and have access to a move that can beat the Hippo, it's on the set. Picking a mon that already has a set to beat...
