I'm looking for a good starter that can either roar/whirlwind/haze and/or taunt. It would also be nice if this potential starter could be packing a Dragon, Dark, Flying or Ground type attack. I've tried Crobat, Celebi, Skarmory and Dodrio... but each one seems to be the odd man out on my team...

Well, Blaziken may be outclassed, but he isn't completely useless. He's a slightly weaker Infernape, but he helps avoid the species clause if you want two Infernapes on your team.

Learning curve? The learning curve in this game is choosing the right moves, evs, team members and strategy. Whether you hack or not this doesn't change. I have great IV pokes with good natures, but I do have a number of losses because I'm still learning. Hacking to get the good stuff quicker...
