Granny Pie

Much has happened since modern Humans first emerged in Africa some 200,000 years ago. Even with the primitive technologies of rock and bone, Man conquered and rapidly spread throughout most of the globe. Soon the first primitive tribes and kingdoms rose and with it, scientific institutions.

Scientific progress has been swift, but alas, it was not without cost. Wars claimed millions of lives even before the atom had been tamed. The world wars of the 20th century gave rise to the United Nations with the intent to add stability and keep the peace between the bickering nation-states of the past. By the early 22nd century, the power of the United Nations outweighed that of the old world, and became the de facto government of Earth.

The United Nation's grip on Earth made way for technological process like never before seen. Space exploration and exploitation has become a significant part of Earth's economy. With recent breakthroughs in theoretical FTL travel using hyper drive lanes of limited gravitational effect, mankind is about to achieve its destiny.
