Are Dark-types the Dark Horse of in-game?

The big thing with Dark is really just that you need to be in Gen 4 or later. Pre P/S split, the type is miserable. After then, though, it takes off. It's reasonably common for the games to include an early-route derp that's a Dark type, because they want something weak for the evil team to...

Pokémon Day 2026 - Pokemon Winds and Waves coming 2027! Champions April 2026

A game delayed until it is finished is late once, a game rushed out the door is badly made forever.

Pokémon Day 2026 - Pokemon Winds and Waves coming 2027! Champions April 2026

Yeah, I was sure the trailer was Gen 10, but I kept doubting and being like "is this revisiting old regions? All region game confirmed?" The floating town looked just like Pacificlog and there were a few other things that I kept thinking were specific elements from a previous region.

Pokémon Day 2026 - Pokemon Winds and Waves coming 2027! Champions April 2026

Skorts are real things and fill a useful niche, those are not skorts. ... Okay, I just googled to confirm, and there's two definitions of skort. The one I was aware of is a skirt with shorts underneath. It's what female tennis players(and other athletes) wear, so that the skirt can move easily...

Pokémon Day 2026 - Pokemon Winds and Waves coming 2027! Champions April 2026

WaWi. WaWi puts them in alphabetical order and makes it clear which game is which when you then talk about just Wi, whereas if you go WW you still end up using Wa and Wi elsewhere.

Pokémon Day 2026 - Pokemon Winds and Waves coming 2027! Champions April 2026

Not in love with the WaWi graphics. The mons are a bit too plastic. Environments look good, though, so we'll have to see(especially with another 12-18 months of develoment). I could see any of the starters being good, too early to tell.

    Tragedy of using Rock-types in-game

I think it's more about not wanting to mess with the type chart like that. That said, Grass/Rock is a shockingly good type combo. Mostly obscure weaknesses, resist normal and electric, and you get ALL the support moves.

    What's the deal with Ice-types in-game?

I do. Or rather, I think it's something they've cared a lot about since Gen 5. In Gen 4, the secondary types modified the matchup heavily(Grass/Ground, Fire/Fighting, Water/Steel). Since then, we've had: Gen 5: Grass, Fire/Fighting, Water. Matchup unchanged. Gen 6: Grass/Fighting, Fire/Psychic...

    What's the deal with Ice-types in-game?

Reupping this because I realized there's an obvious avenue for an early/mid-game ice type that the games have actively avoided: Secondary typing for the water-starter. We've had a penguin, an otter/sea lion, and a seel without any of them getting the ice typing that those species would otherwise...

(Little) Things that annoy you in Pokémon

I really hate when there's a type combo with no members. Except. ONE SINGULAR random form or pre-evo that keeps that type combination from appearing on the lists of "type combos that don't have representatives." Electric/Fire deserves more than a Rotom form.

    Unpopular opinions

I think there were potential elements of the Wild Area that could have worked better but didn't for various reasons. GF's insistence on dumping features instead of iterating on them is extremely frustrating. One of my pet peeves is that they give you 5 Poke Dolls when you first reach the wild...

    What's the deal with Ice-types in-game?

In the vein of "the best ice-type is coverage on a different type", arguably Pikachu-Belle is the best option for the Cosplay Pikachu. Which is just sad.

SPOILERS! 2026 FireRed/LeafGreen Switch rerelease announced (standalone purchase)

This bugs me so much. Why does it need a grandfather clause? Gacha Games and Lootboxes dominate the industry and are specifically marketed at children, Nintendo's Animal Crossing has huge amounts of content locked behind "log in every day to check this RNG" and even turnip-based gambling and all...

    What's the deal with Ice-types in-game?

DP: Rotom is postgame, checking Bulbapedia I'm not sure if different forms of it even exist in these games Platinum: Rotom is early, changing forms is event-locked BW/B2W2: Rotom is postgame, changing forms is unlocked upon catching it. XY: Rotom is around gym 6, changing forms is unlocked upon...

SPOILERS! Mysteries and Conspiracies of Pokemon

Here's a mystery: Why do the cabs exist? This is a game with a fairly impressive fast travel system, why are they expecting players to use taxis at all?
