i suggest after chaining 40, stop going any higher and keep resetting the pokeradar until you find the shiny...the animation lasts quite a bit longer than the other shakes and after looking at 40+ shakes, you'll be able to distinguish that bush.. i caught a shiny magnemite, geodude, ponyta...
