  1. Garchomp's status in light of Outrage being a tutor move

It would have to give something else up to have Aqua Tail though. The point isn't "Garchomp has counters" it's "Garchomp post-platinum is weaker than Garchomp pre-platinum".
  2. Garchomp's status in light of Outrage being a tutor move

I looked for at thread on this subject, but couldn't find one, which surprised me (hope I didn't mess up). With Outrage being made available to other pokemon, Garchomp has become far more counterable and I think moving it back to OU should be considered. In particular, Ryperior, who with...
  3. A somewhat gimmicky item clause team

Next to Breloom, Dragonite is the pokemon I'm most willing to replace (especially with Garchomp now Uber), but I'm not sure about Heatran. I was thinking something more along the lines of Electivire, who can give me type coverage comparable to (and actually a bit better than) Dragonite's.
  4. A somewhat gimmicky item clause team

Breloom (F) @ Toxic Orb Ability: Poison Heal EVs: 236 HP/252 Atk/22 Spd Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Protect - Mach Punch - Spore - Seed Bomb My lead but also the team member I generally find the least useful and the one I'm most willing to replace. I find I end up using her to...
  5. Stealth Rock in the OU Metagame

No, they aren't comparable in terms of how they work, effectiveness, avoidability, etc. They ARE comparable in that banning both would alter the metagame significantly. The purpose of bringing up Earthquake is to demonstrate that the fact that banning something would alter the metagame...
  6. Venomoth in OU?

My mistake. For some reason I thought it had Bug Buzz.
  7. Stealth Rock in the OU Metagame

As I said before, the same can be said of banning Earthquake or other moves.
  8. Garchomp and this Metagame

Probably a little less useful than ScarfChomp. There's potential for surprise factor against other pokemon besides Garchomp. For example, Scarf Dragonite can surprise non-scarf Heatran who would normally expect to outspeed Dragonite.
  9. Garchomp and this Metagame

It's true that there is no "perfect" counter to YacheChomp, but Dragonite and Salamence (with Choice Scarf) can come in on anything that isn't outrage and KO with a Dragon move.
  10. Stealth Rock in the OU Metagame

The earthquake analogy doesn't apply to the argument that Stealth Rock should be banned because it's just "too good", but it isn't intended to. It DOES apply to the argument that Stealth Rock should be banned because it would result in certain pokemon being used less and certain other pokemon...
  11. Stealth Rock in the OU Metagame

As I see it, the argument for banning Stealth Rock from OU is even weaker than the argument for banning Garchomp (which I also don't think should be done). Merely because a move is widely used and banning it would significantly change the metagame doesn't mean it should be banned. Earthquake...
  12. Venomoth in OU?

Venomoth has a higher base speed than (obviously) Bronzong, who has become the most widely-used starter, as well as Gyarados. However, Venomoth seems like it would be prone to getting KO'd in one hit, so it's risky to play especially considering Sleep Powder only works 75% of the time...
  13. Garchomp and this Metagame

There are a lot of pokemon who can become viable Garchomp counters with Choice Scarf and some basic prediction, including Dragonite and Salamence (and Garchomp!) who can KO with Dragon moves and therefore don't have to fear Yache.
  14. Smogon's Shoddy Battle Server to be released soon

Is the Smogon server going to use a modified source code? If so, it would be good if some kind of flood protection was implemented like on most IRC channels, since flooding is a problem on the official server when mods aren't around.
