Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
"There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."
Statistics don't prove much of anything. Scizor has far more omnipresence than Garchomp every had. But myself, and I don't think anybody has attempted to argue Scizor should be Uber.
I thought the standard for Ubers was...
I said this before, and I'll say it again, because both of your posts touches on what I was saying.
You can actually hold a debate over who is the current top OU sweeper. Each one has their strengths, advantages, and weaknesses. Garchomp manages to bypass that. There really is no debate with...
I disagree.
Level 100
(((2*BaseStat)+(EV/4)+IV)+5) * Nature
Level 50
( (BaseStat)+(EV/8)+(IV/2)+5 ) * Nature
The math disagrees too.
Doesn't matter which order you do them in.
Consider it to be a checklist. Each time you add a check to the checklist, you get a new rank of card. Battle...
I would seriously doubt that. Remember, that's just a simple math formula to get a Pokemon's stats at any level for any IV and EV and Nature.
HP
((2*BaseHP)+(EV/4)+IV)*(Level/100)+Level+10
Other Stats
(((2*BaseStat)+(EV/4)+IV)*(Level/100)+5) * Nature
In other words, the only thing that the...
Never took statistics in high school? I'll break it down.
Fire blast has an 85% accuracy.
85% = A Hit = 0.85
15% = A Miss = 0.15
0.85 * 0.85 * 0.85 = Three Hits in a Row = 0.614 = 61.4% Chance
0.15 * 0.15 * 0.15 = Three Misses in a Row = 0.00338 = 0.34% Chance
To continue that for the sake...
I agreed with everything up until your conclusion, which I respectfully disagree with.
Down the whole list, you basically said "Garchomp is better than every similar sweeper, though on some it is only slightly better; and Scizor is not comparable because it plays very different." And yet...
Earlier in the thread, there was several pages of math which concluded that Sand Veil allowed Garchomp in an average fight to have the following happen...
1/3rd of the time, dodge no attacks
1/3rd of the time, dodge one attack
1/3rd of the time, dodge two or more attacks
Give or take one...
I thought I said that. *nods*
Which is one of the two reasons the flinch hax is completely incomparable to the sand veil hax.
1. Sand Veil works even if the opponent outspeeds you or uses a priority move.
2. Sand Veil is passive, and provides RNG Defense without restricting move selection...
Everytime I read this, I cringe. When was the last time any Uber swept you 6-0? Sand Veil is not the same as Waterfall. People like to disregard Sand Veil, by saying it is the same as Waterfall. But it isn't. Let's try rewording Sand Veil into an equivalent Ability.
Sand Veil
In a...
I've read through this whole thread, from beginning to end. Yes, my sanity has probably been damaged slightly by this act. But I found the entire topic fairly interesting.
I am solidly in the "Uber Garchomp" camp, simply because it has so much going for it. I think a lot of people who try to...
