Planned Obsolescence and Light Bulbs Both good points! The Phoebus cartel set the lifespan standard for regular bulbs at 1000 hours, - at which it has endured, even though 5000 hr bulbs were available quite early on. Manufacturers exceeding the limit were fined or excluded from markets...
