Pendragon70, you usually have to be a global staff member on the main server (Smogon University), have certain badges on here, or win them from certain contests to get a custom avatar.

Only certain users can get them on Pokemon Showdown, and unless an event occurs where highest on the ladder gets a custom avatar, you don't usually get one unless you are global staff. Sorry.
