    Depositing a pokemon in the PC will cause it's stats to be recalculated, making EVs get applied. However, at level 100 pokemon stop gaining EVs from battles (because they no longer get experience). So in other words, the "box trick" does still exist, it just doesn't help level 100 pokemon...
