Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
What are your thoughts on the viability of 4x ice weak Pokemon for high number BF Doubles runs in general? I'd love to include either a Dragonite, a Salamence or a CB Flygon on a team, but have seen none before on any registered runs.
EV spreads are still very much up for grabs. Just copied my Gen 3 spread for Kingdra and filled in my standard Adamant spread for Toxicroak. Once the team is settled upon I'll probably dive into specifics (same for checking whether Latios actually needs 252 speed).
Noted. Another idea I just...
I've been working on the issue of Damp Pokemon facing my BoomBox team. In this gen there are four with the ability: Golduck, Quagsire, Politoed and Poliwrath. Ideally you'd want to be able to run Thunderbolt for three of them, but with Quagsire we need Giga Drain instead. While I was running...
I've been working a bit on potential ideas for a Doubles team. Once again, to set the stage: I want to come up with one or more options that could surpass the 500+ streak length to make for a top 5 finish. I've got some past experience with the gen 3 Frontier so know the basics and am familiar...
I continued working on my ideas for doubles teams. I think I settled on the following two:
Team 1: BoomBox
https://pokepast.es/f7df3eba77677a09
Leads with Metagross and Gengar. First turn Gengar Booms, getting Metagross below 1/3rd by doing so, while Metagross Endures. Turn 2 Metagross either...
Hmm, yeah the eventual aim would be to see if I can get a 500+ streak on the leaderboard some day so looking at the issues listed for the team you refer to (which are shared by my setup), it’s probably not the right call. Going through the teams that did manage to get such streaks, it seems like...
I’m working on a Gen IV Doubles Team for the Battle Facilities. There are two Pokémon I’ve been warming to use in Emerald, but feel just a little bit too frank there without the items of Gen IV: Shiftry and Jumpluff. Both have some very interesting traits. Shiftry is the only Pokemon I can think...
Oh yes, I love Jumpluff! probably too frail for Gen 3 though. What I am looking at is Jumpluff in Gen IV, as Focus Sash should keep her alive for at least one turn. First turn Sunny Day paired with a Fake Out user. Then look to get in Scarf Typhlosion and start swinging out Helping Hand...
I worked out a few possible BF Doubles teams I'd love some C&C on:
Team 1: Rain
https://pokepast.es/6037795beca58438
The first three picks for this team were easily made. Latios almost feels like an auto include for any team trying to get a high scoring run in. Given that I want to build...
The roamer glitch only affects Ruby, Sapphire, FR and LG. So on Emerald, you can RNG a Latii with good IVs and nature. Only downside is there are no paintings between your save point and the point where the IVs get generated so you cannot adjust the seed, meaning no perfect spreads within...
Iiiiiuui
Hmmm yeah those seem like fair calls. I completely forgot Jumpluff could also get Helping Hand. Perhaps Sunny Day-Helping Hand-Encore-Protect might be worth a try then? Paired with something that can deal with Ice Beam users. I’ll have to see if I can work something out. Also, fair...
Nature and EVs are good. For item either Lum Berry or Sharp Beak to further boost Aerial Ace. Move wise, Aerial Ace and Earthquake are a given. Dragon Dance too, since we want to use him as a setup sweeper so want a setup move. Then for the last slot you either want Rock Slide (Rock-Ground makes...
Metagross, Milotic and Salamence make for a good team. Steel-Water-Dragon is a classic combination due to the way resistances cover each other. All three are just strong Pokémon. And they can compliment each other’s roles. Choice Band Meta, tanky Milotic, setup sweeper Salamence with STAB Aerial...
Have you tried using Metagross alongside Gengar? I know they were used a lot together in ADV Doubles when Boom wasn’t banned and could see them be able to help each other out quite well. Metagross could use Shadow Ball to deal with Psychic users threatening Gengar, while Gengar in turn could set...
