I agree that the game needs bad Pokemon and the evil teams don't usually use absolute bottom-of-the-barrel junk, but it does annoy me how their Pokemon are usually Dark or Poison types (or Normal types with dark colors) just because they fit the cliche "bad guy" aesthetic. A little more variety...

I really like all the new forms, but a little disappointed they decided to keep the legendary birds part-Flying. I also feel like Zapdos's and Moltres's signature moves should have Paralysis and Burn effects, like Articuno's Freezes. We don't have nearly enough off-type secondary effects like...

They are definitely not version exclusive. I got all 4 from the Digging Duo in Sword, though it took FOREVER to get the Fossilized Fish. Maybe the odds are different between the games, but I think it's just down to luck.

Anyway, here are my thoughts on the team I used in Sword: Rilaboom: A good solid, bulky starter. It learns some good coverage moves later in the game, as well. Faster than you’d expect, too. Centiskorch: It’s definitely not the second coming of Volcarona, but it’s strong and reasonably bulky...

I've been wondering how each type was affected by Dexit (as in, what percentage of each type's Pokemon are left out). Someone would have to crunch the numbers, but just eyballing it, it looks like Water and Ghost made out great, Fire and Poison not so good, and Normal got absolutely nuked. But...

I agree that there is quite a bit of redundancy in the Pokemon that made the cut. Every Water/Ground type except Swampert is in. So is every Flying/Psychic but Lugia! I guess we'll have to see how it all shakes out, but from a competitive perspective it would have been nice to give lesser-used...

I’ll always love Aerodactyl, but personally I’m glad GF have (mostly) moved away from generic simple-animal designs and on to weirder, more interesting stuff that challenges old ideas of what a Pokemon is “supposed” to look like. No, they won’t always get it just right, but that’s what happens...
