Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Why do Prinplup and Empoleon have Tackle as a starting move, while Piplup has Pound as a starting move? It seems intentional as it's been this way in every generation. This is something fans could easily miss because no one would really pay attention to Empoleon's starting moves. This is odd to...
This applies to the Bellsprout line too. This is due to the egg move being carried over from gen 2, where it could be taught to a father in gen 1 through TM
In Generation 3, the Oddish line can learn Swords Dance through breeding. But the only eligible fathers that can pass the move down only can get it themselves through move tutor
That's possible. But I wonder if it could have been intentional because it only seems to be this way with both of the screen moves, Reflect and Light Screen. And it's like this for both generations 3 and 4.

I kinda like the resource management of items you sort of have to do with bag items in the games. Like healing items, Pokeballs etc. Like using worse Pokeballs on weaker mons and saving better Pokeballs for stronger mons. It's simple but I kinda like it
That all makes sense! The gameplay first consideration makes a lot of sense to me! Interesting they changed this in later gens. Maybe because there are more options for passive damage now
Im trying to figure out the logic behind why almost every Pokémon used to be able to learn toxic. Maybe because it's described as a technique in RBY and FRLG, if I remember correctly. I know the Serebii website describes it as a technique in Gen 1. So maybe it's not the Pokemon emitting the...
