I think it's easy to work around by simply giving the Pokemon you want to have low stats bad IVs/EVs and or low levels, and high/perfect IVs good EV spreads for those you want to be a cut above the rest. It's not like the main story of current Pokemon games is any kind of challenging anyway...

I think Game Freak should take a step back from making new Pokemon, and instead try to balance the existing ones.
