Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Sincere thanks to everybody for each and every serious/non-sassy response to this topic. Although I want to make it clear that I am no longer trying to push my original point that Fletchinder is unsavory in NU, I do still want to address one last thing:
The difference I was trying to spell out...
So if you absolutely have to run a Flying resist on every team, lest you be swept by Fletchinder, then doesn't that kind of make a statement on Fletchinder's position in the meta? I also feel like it's worth mentioning that I didn't actually call it broken.
Does anyone else think Fletchinder is a little... dumb? I've never seen a Pokemon in NU be so capable of outright stealing games from people for literally no reason. It literally just throws up a Swords Dance and boom, that's a wrap. I don't think easy winning like that is healthy for NU (or...
The bold was reason #125467983 why I hated RU so much during the two miserable months I played it before topping and stopping. Might as well try it again though since it's basically a brand new meta at this point. (Bye moonduck, you won't be missed!)
What IS a good defensive answer to Magmortar? Seems like it has the right move to hit pretty much anything. And figuring out its set will probably come with some significant bruising thanks to that high SpA.
I'm extremely surprised that Typhlosion was so close. Specs Eruption is just so obviously overpowered in NU... hell, it'd probably be pretty OP in most tiers with the right Pokemon behind it.
When reading the NU Usage Stats, what does it mean when a page is titled "nu-0" or "nu-1760"? Also, is there one best page to use for this thing? (Here's the link to the March stats in case it helps: http://www.smogon.com/stats/2015-03/)
I know this might not be all that simple, but what differentiates RU from the other tiers? Like what kinds of playstyles or general philosophies tend to be very good or very bad here?
As an example, I love using Balance teams, but recently decided to stop since it seems like there are too many...
Welp, while everybody else tries to threaten the other tiers into not taking their Pokes, I'm just gonna say I absolutely love this decision. This really helps keep the metagames fresh and interesting while we don't have new games or new HAs coming out.
I'm basically repeating earlier stuff here, but a Pokemon doesn't have to be broken to be banned. If it's just good enough to center the meta around itself, that's often enough cause for concern. Seriously, I really don't think Heliolisk belongs in NU.
