Actually this article you linked: http://www.smogon.com/dp/articles/normalized_stats ...has exactly what I propose above in a clearer formulation. I think the approximation is a bit off for EVs (18 + 15.75 = about 34, rather than 32, I don't get where he pulls 32 from)... Or maybe I suck at...
