  1. Other The effectiveness of Baton Pass teams after the nerf

It's disingenuous to Baton Pass to SwagPlay. SwagPlay literally turned matches into coinflips, and couldn't really be countered by anything except Own Tempo mons (zero of which are OU viable) or counter SwagPlay. BP does have counters in OU.
  2. Other The effectiveness of Baton Pass teams after the nerf

Yeah that's basically the conclusion I've reached as well - Scolipede is Uber under the Support Clause.
  3. Other The effectiveness of Baton Pass teams after the nerf

And how many of those teams put in any preparation for Baton Pass? I'm betting the answer is near zero. What if, instead, they had no answer for say... Charizard X? Or Mega Pinsir? Those games would be match-up dependent, no?
  4. Other The effectiveness of Baton Pass teams after the nerf

The problem is that's the only evidence there is that BP is still broken, and everyone who talks about it tries to pretend Denis+ is a terrible (or average or low skill) player who only wins because BP is broken. Does anyone have any replays of other people using BP?
  5. Other The effectiveness of Baton Pass teams after the nerf

That's not a reasonable argument though - if they get outplayed because the opponent outpredicts them and/or succeeds in mindgaming them then they just aren't as good. And that's what happened in 3/4 of those matches. Reverb was the only one of the four that seemed to be on level with Denis in...
  6. Other The effectiveness of Baton Pass teams after the nerf

Did you even watch the replays you posted? First one the opponent makes a serious misplay switching heatran out on Deoxys-S, and gives up shortly thereafter. Second one the opponent switches in Chansey to take the Spore and forgets about Natural Cure. Third one is just completely outplayed by...
  7. Other The effectiveness of Baton Pass teams after the nerf

To be fair? IIRC, there has not been a Gen where Deo hasn't been uber. I don't see why that'd change this generation either. In fact, I'm kinda weirded out that Deoxys comes down from Uber every generation to play before its inevitable ban.
  8. XY OU Suspect Process, Round 3 - BATON PASS [READ POST #590]

If that's true, then anyone running a viable team should easily work their way to the top right?
  9. Mawile

I'm going to say I ran a Mawile similar to his set and it ended up turning out pretty good, scoring at least 1 if not 2 kills per game.
  10. Deoxys-S Tiering Discussion

Well, I guess he could set up screens like Deoxys might have? That being said, couldn't Prankster tricking Deoxys a Scarf be a viable strategy? Can't outspeed, can't Magic Coat. A lagging tail might work in a pinch.
  11. "Uncompetitive" and "Overcentralization": What do they really mean?

Expeditious, for the sake of the argument, would you be willing to define what a "properly calibrated" random number generator is?
  12. np: OU Suspect Testing Round 3 - So Long and Thanks for all the Fish

That's not a reasonable assumption at all. "It's <X> therefore it should be banned," isn't a good reason at all to vote for something.
  13. np: OU Suspect Testing Round 3 - So Long and Thanks for all the Fish

http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3414310&postcount=2120 My point was that the definition this person gave was not a reasonable definition. I feel we've come away from that, point though.
  14. np: OU Suspect Testing Round 3 - So Long and Thanks for all the Fish

You're missing my point. I am saying that if we define uncompetitive as anything that "encourages players to rely on luck to win" then we must ban Attract and Confusion as they would be uncompetitive by that definition. As for evasion items, since when are they broken? It's not as though they...
  15. np: OU Suspect Testing Round 3 - So Long and Thanks for all the Fish

What does them having a counter have anything to do with them fitting the definition of "encourages players to rely on luck to win?" Whether there is a counter to that or not in no way affects the fact that they do by very definition encourage players to rely on luck to win. Gravity Odor Sleuth...
