Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Just watched the 2nd trailer after a flood of Lechonk memes on my feeds.
To put it bluntly, this looks straight up mid. As long as it's not straight up malpractice like BDSP was, these should be fine tho.
I'm very disappointed if Wild battles got the wack camera back, that should be saved for...
Apparently, as some of us speculated, Hyper Beam's drawback is a speed penalty like a Strong Style move.
Naturally, Mastery mitigates that because of Agile Style, or you can just choose violence and pull the trigger on Strong Style because the only added drawback is the PP cost.
(Style moves...
There's an item that can be traded for mastery, so maybe their intended use is for the tutor moves that wouldn't be mastered otherwise?
I don't even smile when I get a Dawn Stone anymore... :psycry:
Btw, reports say that you can find them in the timespace shifts on the overworld. Ralts is...
We've seen them in trailers.
Agile is faster but weaker, Strong is... y'know, but slower.
Now Speed isn't the absolute definer when it comes to turn order, but Styles don't really add priority per se, so don't expect Avalugg to spam Agile moves and zoop around like Regieleki.
I can see the new stats staying tbh.
Sleep and Freeze are really strong, and I'd guess it's a serious problem in VGC because of smaller team sizes and 2v1 being a huge advantage.
I'm not sure how the new sleep thing works tbh, but I can definitely see Frostbite staying.
I've seen mons use Agile Style to set up a double and bonk people with Strong Style followups, and wild Stunky use the gap of a player's Strong move to combo Poison Gas and Venoshock before the player could act.
Trust me, you will want some sort of defensive backbone on your team in this game...
Yes, that's the most likely scenario, though I wouldn't be surprised if they made things simple enough for mons to be adapted into Legends' new stat mechanics as some sort of beta to Gen 9.
Speaking of which...
I miss Intimidate so much... :psycry:
It's like they actually expect people to...
It's like a Spearow/Doduo situation. The key point you're not thinking is in-game balance. Rowlet is available wayyyyyy earlier than Petilil. That's its niche. It ain't much tbh because lol Grass, but...
Honestly, none of the starters look that hot to me. Apparently Dewott lost Razor Shell...
