re: Azurill's earlygame potential, you can get it to evolve at L10 with minimal effort (5-10 minutes of running around, made even easier with the rollerskates) at which point it learns Defense Curl and Rollout as a Marill, thus allowing it to steamroll the entire first Gym not even fearing...

So Aura Sphere has 90BP, perfect accuracy and is a model Fighting-type move... So why did Focus Blast get the TM treatment? I'll let you think about that one

i thought woobat wasn't too shabby. sure, base 77 special attack is pathetic, but lanturn was a pretty decent mid-tier in HG/SS and it had base 76. while lanturn's STAB attacks are a lot better, swoobat comes a lot earlier and gets at least passable neutral coverage at that stage of the game...
