Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Thanks!! This is ludicrously specific, but is there any rectangular box that specifically says "Estimated Release Date: 2/28/2026"? That would indicate a date actually programmed into the eShop system rather than just written description text.
Sorry for the dumb question - where does the...
It looks like the official website says the DLC is available for pre-order already?
Can someone who has access to the eShop please check and see what the claimed release date for the DLC is? In the past, the eShop's placeholder dates have revealed tiny bits of info that the official website hasn't.
Thoughts:
I actually disagree with the "how dare they announce paid DLC before the game's even out" camp. Smash Ultimate also did this.
Kalos starter megas being event-exclusive really, really sucks.
Huh? I specifically remember the variety show confirming a new type was on the way because two of the skits were "resists fighting" and "weak to poison", ruling out all existing types.
It was revealed 3 days before release: https://serebii.net/news/2022/25-January-2022.shtml
The official website also posted clearer silhouettes and the Japanese trailer had a less clickbait title...
Sword/Shield used a 400-pixel HP bar rounding to the nearest 400th (proof), while BDSP used a 256-pixel HP bar rounding to the nearest 256th (proof). I'd be very surprised if SV used 48ths (but I don't know SV's exact number).
I even wonder if VGC 2026 might have it. ZA is late 2025, which means the next main series game after that won't be until late 2026. This means that either VGC 2026 features Champions, or TPC is stuck with four years in a row of Scarlet/Violet VGC. We've never had four VGCs in a row use the same...
I don't think people are angry about a lawsuit over plagiarism - I think people are angry because nintendo chose to do a patent lawsuit specifically. Patenting game mechanics sets all sorts of terrible precedents.
Some more thoughts/allegations I've seen bouncing around:
JP patent law is apparently different from US patent law in such a way that it covers things that wouldn't be called "patents" in the US system, such as trademarks.
There's some misinformation floating around that the patent allegedly...
For context, this is the first main series game ever approved in China.
I wonder if there's a trivial explanation where only a certain number of games are allowed to be approved per [time period] or something. Obviously I have no evidence of this.
Completely off-topic but this suddenly reminded me of that June 2021 Direct with Smash in it. For context, people were wildly speculating F-Zero, someone posted "I predict nintendo will execute Captain Falcon live on stage"...and then the Direct opened with Kazuya throwing Captain Falcon off a...
