IVs: 0 Atk
Modest Nature
- Hidden Power Fire
- Flash Cannon
- Substitute
- Volt Switch / Thunderbolt
[SET COMMENTS]
Magnezone draws in troublesome Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Excadrill, and Klefki to convert them to scrap metal while serving as a reliable switch-in to Moonblast from Tapu Lele and Enamorus for Electric teams. Hidden Power Fire is essential for dealing as much damage as possible before Klefki or Excadrill set too many entry hazards or break Magnezone after enough attacks. Flash Cannon obliterates Fairy-types such as Mega Diancie and Tapu Lele. Substitute allows Magnezone to block Leech Seed from Ferrothorn and Celesteela, and it also provides an opportunity to secure a second OHKO against Fairy teams after trapping and eliminating Klefki. Volt Switch helps Magnezone to maintain momentum and chip away at Corviknight before it inevitably uses U-turn turns, while Thunderbolt 2HKOes Celesteela. The first EV spread lets Magnezone survive two Moonblasts from Choice Specs Tapu Lele while still being able to outspeed Skarmory. Maximum Special Attack and Speed can be considered, as this lets Magnezone outspeed and OHKO most variants of Mega Scizor before getting OHKOed by it. As Magnezone is able to deal with Steel-types like Ferrothorn and Excadrill, which take Electric-type attacks with ease, Rising Voltage users like Regieleki and Alolan Raichu greatly benefit from having Magnezone as a teammate. In return, these teammates provide speed control, dealing with Iron Valiant, Volcarona, and Ogerpon-W. Tapu Koko benefits from Celesteela getting removed, as this means it's able to use Hidden Power Ice more freely against Flying teams, and it deals with Kommo-o and Mega Gallade. Zapdos and Rotom-W are great Ground-immune teammates to fall back on after Magnezone's Air Balloon is popped, and Rotom-W appreciates the removal of Mold Breaker Excadrill, which otherwise threatens it. Raging Bolt becomes even scarier once Steel-types are removed by Magnezone, allowing it to spam Draco Meteor with impunity. Iron Hands and Zeraora appreciate Magnezone removing Klefki in the Fairy matchup, preventing it from setting its dual screens, and trapping Protect scouters like Ferrothorn in Steel teams, which allows them to play more aggressively against these teams. Magnezone also is a slow pivot that brings in these wallbreakers, which is greatly appreciated by most Electric-types.
