Hi all! I don't know about you, but I love crossword puzzles. I have for years but I kind of got out of the habit of doing them until a few months ago when I started doing the daily NYT mini-crossword. Now I'm slowly getting back into the habit of doing full-size crosswords and they're just as fun as I remember. But on my drive home today, I thought... why not try to construct one myself? And why not make it Smogon-themed? So, I present to you all, the first(?) official Smogon crossword! If this gets good reception, maybe I'll make more. But in the meantime, you can play at the link below.

very fun. clearly written by someone with a wide knowledge and thoughtfulness for the site. i finished with minimal outside help - i looked up one clue where i got the gist but didnt know the exact answer, but i could've brute forced if it came down to that, that one was a shortie. brute forced two others i think. someone who knows some the tour stuff i had to brute force or finagle will surely punk this time, but getting under the nearest 10 minute barrier was fun.

some funny mistakes i did:

6 across: thought it was a certain word ending in X for a long time. turns out that doesn't resolve the puzzle... shockingly... lol
36 across: tried IO first... lol...
49 across: not the version with p? heresy...

42 down: your answer to this as opposed to the alternative i thought at first reveals you as old...
45 down: read this as "NFE's opposite" for the longest time. definitely my costliest error lol

might tempt me to make my own, honestly. we'll see!

I liked it. I was looking stuff up and had to Check like 4 word/cross sections.

I don't know if this is intended but you can hover over some of the clues like 14 and 55 and they reference other clues by pointing out which ones have the same word.

Haven't tried doing any crossword puzzle in a long while and this one was fun, nice balance of tour/battle/community trivia there.
I needed about 22 mins to finish it ; I don't have the exact count because for some reason I chose to log on with my Google account *after pausing 11 mins in*, so it reset both my progress and my timer (tl;dr no thoughts head empty).

Some words that gave me a bit of a hard time :
- 38 across (Paper), I had __per and couldn't come up with a word that wasn't Super or Hyper :wo: ;
- 43 across (LN), didn't know about the horsin' around meme, was fun to learn about it lol ;
- 25 down (Stealth Rock), despite having ro_k already guessed, I suppose I casually forgot about the existence of rocks, let alone SR for a good 20 mins :tymp:
- 40 down (Earache), because I was trying to think of words that fit the mold of the letters I'd already found, instead of focusing on the hint and going from there

Oh yeah I’m well aware I just do not have the skill at setting crosswords yet to be able to make one symmetrical or with only 3+ letter clues lol. This was a fun first attempt made in one evening, but if I do more I’ll definitely try to stick to “the rules” more.
